As for signing Cisse the press know we are desperately short of players so are linking us with lower end premier league players...they don't appreciate our beloved leaders are desperately short of brain cells so will let their "investment" get relegated by not improving the squad while holding out for a price no one, so far, has been prepared to pay.
Players like Cisse will be the best we can attract. I'd also look at Robbie Keane, Niasse or even bringing back N'Doye. Not exciting but I can't see who else we'll be able to attract.
It's risky, no doubt but definitely worth a punt. He's an instinctual finisher who looked world class for the first few months he was at Newcastle. The key was that they got the ball up the field quickly (Ben Arfa anyone?) and set up balls that he could run onto then hammer into the net. Once defences got wise to that he found the going a lot tougher. Injuries hindered him big time too. My worry, as ever, is that whoever we play upfront is going to struggle because we don't get the ball to them in dangerous situations enough and expect all our forwards to be backs to goal, thirty yard out hold up merchants. That's not really his game.
At last a real live goal scoring prem standard striker linked and for a bargain fee of 3m. Who cares how lazy he is, it's the safest option a club of our size has of signing someone to bag the goals needed to keep us up.
I do find that funny. I mean, it was so very telling on his return from injury, his first game back as a sub against us, two goals, like a knife through butter and, apparently, we had a better team then. If we have the chance we should jump at it; he would be excellent alongside Moka.
Decent for the money, though I thought the need was more for someone who can hold the ball up (Like Ulloa) Mbokani seems quite quick so he'd be the runner. I think we could do with a couple of strikers and someone clever with the ball like Wes Hoolahan that can pick a pass to unlock defences.
Just out of interest anyone know what Demba Ba is doing now .. I know he suffered a horrific injury but is he back playing .. if so who with and how's he doing .. was always impressed with him
In china too i think , could be wrong but would be a better option than cisse Surely a loan offering for crouch wouldnt go a amiss always has a knack of scoring
So he recovered from the serious injury .. good for him .. but alas I suspect you're correct .. perhaps a tad rich for us
