Everton v Watford. Watford travel t´up north to 7th placed Everton who lost their last game 0-1 to Swansea. This is a Friday night fixture, that will be televised but I have no idea why it has been chosen. The Hornets haven´t scored away from home in their last five away games - letting in twelve in the process, and picking up zero points. Shockingly, that is the same amount as the total away goals scored in the last five games - zero. Watford´s last away win was six games ago on the 31st January to Arsenal. That feels like a long time ago. Form is temporary and class is permanent, Watford have neither at the moment, however, home wins against Sunderland, WBA and Swansea in the last ten games plus a draw with West Ham have taken Walter Marrazzari´s side plodding to the 40 point mark. That should be enough to stay up, shouldn´t it? So, given the fact that Watford are not mathematically safe an away trip to Everton is not what is needed really. The following games are away to Chelsea and then at home to Manchester City. Personally, I don´t think we will pick up any more points this season. Therefore I hope our goal difference doesn´t take too much of a battering as that might be key if things do go down to the wire. Which is a worst case senario but scould still happen. ¡¡COYH - GET WIN AWAY FROM HOME - COYH!!
The remaining fixtures at the bottom of the table: C Palace v Hull then Man U (I can see Palace picking up 3 points v Hull) Swansea v Sunderland then WBA (Swansea picking up 3 points v Sunderland) Hull v Palace then Tottenham (0 points) I think Watford will end up in 16th, with Hull going down and Swansea in 17th.
Everton have been very relaxed for a month now - can't go up or down a place. They have some injuries and have picked some fringe players so at least I expect an entertaining game.
I dont see us losing by 3 or 4 entertaining LOL .I hope you enjoy the game and we get a bit of luck go our way
The bookies have just come out with the list of odds for the rest of the season the odds of the 8 games going the way we dont want isssss over 690 to 1 (Paddy P odds) and then for us to go down we would have to lose a few by more than 3 or Hull beat Palace by 2 or more
Tom Cleverley won't feature due to the terms of his original loan deal, even though the clubs have since agreed a permanent move. Guess this could be correct, but it has not been mentioned before.
I seem to remember both the club and the press using the term 'loan move turns into permanent move' - and wondered how they could do that outside of the transfer window...
WM not too confident about the run in: “I hope not to lose these first of all,” he said at today's pre-match press conference. “I have prepared something because I anticipated this being brought up. It is normal in the Premier League to have these moments. West Ham lost five in a row, West Bromwich Albion lost four; these periods can happen. Of course, I hope for it to not happen, and I don’t like it. Let’s not forget, when we had a complete squad, we reached 7th in the Premier League. We were 10th for the majority with a fully-fit side. In some seasons it happens that unexpected things can happen. We reached 40 points with six games left, and now we will see how well we finish." Hardly motivating really.
Confirmed here with more team news: "Jose Holebas and Ben Watson are both due to travel to Liverpool with the squad, which flew to the North West from Luton airport this evening. But neither Craig Cathcart nor Miguel Britos, both absent for a number of weeks, will be fit to play any part tomorrow." I wonder if Behrami is going to play? Or I mean, I hope he is fit to play! I work with two Evertonians, I hope we can win this or at least get a point. A win would be a first double this season, right?
Best we can hope for is that Everton are "on the beach" already. They have nothing to play for as they cannot be caught or catch anyone else.
Given our recent record it does seem hard to see us scoring. Would be completely happy with 0-0, or 1-1 if we could manage to score. COYH!
If it makes any difference, Deeney and Okaka are both in the starting line up apparently... http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp..._home_run_while_Hornets_look_to_regain_sting/
Now confirmed: Team: Gomes (GK); Kabasele, Prödl, Mariappa; Janmaat, Doucouré, Behrami, Capoue, Holebas; Okaka, Deeney subs: Pantilimon (GK), Eleftheriou, Zúñiga, Watson, Amrabat, Success, Niang.
2 up front and maybe a bit more bite in midfield with Behrami in. Some useful attacking options on the bench although no doubt Zuniga will come on first!
