I want two things. England to smash the Jocks. Snodgrass to come through it injury free. Sent off for a dirty foul in the first minute would be ideal. Preferably on Wilshire, is he in the squad?? Come on England.
Might as well post some previous meetings, might cheer some people up. A lot of great British Pathé stuff in here. If you go on the British Pathé youtube page, there's dozens and dozens of England-Scotland games.
There are a couple of players from '43 with a City connection... http://www.11v11.com/matches/scotland-v-england-17-april-1943-225195/ We stuffed 'em even with a cricketer playing for us
Abso-****in-lutely. The abuse I get for being English is phenomenal, especially when there is an election of some sort, or........football. Honestly, you wouldn't believe it, people that I have known for 30 years and I have grown up with, turn into absolute obnoxious racist ****ers. As much as I don't support the English national team, I really ****ing hope England absolutely stuff Scotland.
I've also fallen out of love with the England team, partly because most of the players don't seem to give a stuff about 'the badge', and partly because of the FA being negligent in allowing us to get into this situation. Long term vision and a ruthless pruning of TV money to invest in youth development is required but the FA appear happy to carry on as usual. Whatever people think about Roy, and I'm by no means a fan, his stats are relatively impressive - see table link below. Maybe we've just come to accept success in group stages over 'minor' teams but failure at final stages level as a part of life? Having said all of that - **** the sweaties, hope we batter them. http://englandfootballonline.com/TeamMgr/MgrChron.html
Further to this, I will not be gleefully abandoning my nationality midway through the first half because it's still 0-0, bragging about how little interest I have in this anyway, saying it's the worst England side in years and I'd rather be doing anything else, how has it come to this when X is in the England squad, is it the worst England squad ever? I won't be calling Southgate clueless, an FA yes man or calling for a manager who'll 'get rid of the big names'. I won't go on about sideways passing, all in our own half or how Scotland obviously want it so much more than us. And if we win, which is very likely, I won't make tedious claims about how many more we should be beating teams like Scotland by and ignoring the fact that several other large nations actually fail to beat lesser sides fairly regularly. So apologies in advance.
Wayne Rooney will captain England. The press conference (with Southgate and Henderson) is live here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/37299921 Harry Kane confirmed fit to play.
