Now Rooney has been massively disrespectful to our nation, should Jordan Henderson be given the captaincy full time?

He is the midfield general and the captain of the current PL table toppers.

I'd just cut the crap and let him thrive looking after the novice players in the squad.

When you have players like Dier, Alli and Vardy (all very new to the set up) I think it's vital for someone that has the experience to keep them in line.

I'd probably make Lallana vice captain, but hey that's a discussion for another time, lads!

    Thoughts?

Shame how we've gone to a team with the likes of Terry, Ferdinand, Neville(s), Carragher, Lampard, Gerrard and Beckham who could all wear the arm band to a team where Jordan Henderson is about as good as it's likely to get in terms of leadership in the space of 10 years.

I actually think rooney should be completely let go off at club and national level and it will only benefit the teams in question.

We've got a tendency to seriously undermine our players here in England.

That lot has, between them, won 7 European trophies, 40 odd Premier Leagues, loads of FA and League Cups as well as back to back to back Quarter finals in International tournaments.

Something that today's bunch can only dream of.

    Very true.

An amazing collection of players, with zilch team spirit.

    Really bizarre tbh.

You can see why they didn't get on.

You only have to look at some of the games played between United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in that era.

Shame that that level of bite and intensity has dropped so severely since. The recent Liverpool/United game was a shambles.

It was poor, agreed. The NLD was just as ****e.

Spurs vs West Ham this weekend will be just as ****e.

Let's all blame the foreigners <diva>

He's not captain material. Nigel Pearson once described him as a complex character which effectively means he's a bit of a weirdo.

Good job he's a good footballer. If the FA had any sense he'd be starting in a two with Henderson with Lallana just ahead of them.

... very rarely do we see eye to eye ... I put it down to your entitlement issues ... you put it down to my being intellectually superior <whistle>

... but on this you have my wholehearted support ... in a brief cameo the other night Lallana showed how you get the best out of Vardy - he is capable of exercising the perfect pass at the right time and, for me, has been the best player in an England shirt for some time ... looks genuinely at ease on the world stage ...
Vardy can upset any defence with his raw pace and agression ... he is a weapon that should be being used but at times has been making runs with no hope of anybody playing him in ... Lallana can make him a very dangerous weapon for England ...

Whilst I'm in this spirit of bon homie I will also concede that if Lallana plays then Henderson should also play ... can't say he 'bosses' things quite to the extent that you feel - but he compliments Lallana's game very well <ok>

Seriously mate, Kane is too thick to be given the captaincy ... they played an interview the other night on talkSport - it was either pre-Scotland or Spain ... he managed to to get the phrase 'win the game' into an interview of 3 sentences 4 times ... they only played the interview to have a laugh at him ... the FA can't risk that ... he makes Wayne Rooney sound like Albert Einstein ... <ok>

Talking to team mates requires more intelligence than Kane has.
