I've just seen on SSN that PL & some Championship teams are putting U21 teams into the EFL Trophy. For me this is taking away something from the little clubs who could have their big days out at Wembley. Is it going to benefit any lower league clubs money wise other than stopping them from a potential cup run & Wembley appearance?
it was the same last year as well. 16 Premier/Championship teams with "category 1" status junior/B teams are in the tournament along with the 48 league 1/2 teams.
Who even cares, it's a **** trophy that they introduced because smaller clubs had no chance of getting to Wembely otherwise. Nobody gives a **** about it, so why does anybody care that there are reserve teams in it? It allows younger players to play competitive football, that can't be a bad thing.
It's a stupid competition anyway. Best to get rid of it. Never known a more pointless waste of time. And getting all these teams to Wembley is a total piss take, they don't deserve to play there, they're ****.
Without the smaller clubs the game is nothing. Just remember where Hull City languished in the early 80's and 96-04
I didn't say the smaller clubs didn't matter, I said the Paint Trophy is a pointless competition. Why have a league cup for the bottom two leagues? What's the point? Why don't we have one for the top two tiers?
