Because there has never been a plan. There is no law against implementing one. I believe we can stay in Europe on our own terms, which would include policing immigration. We are an island, it is much harder for immigrants to get into this country than it is to cross borders on the continent. There is also a humanitarian aspect to consider. Think about how awful a life you must have to risk your life to get to a country where you have no home, no job and no money. Those poor people are desperate in a way that you and I will, thankfully, never truly understand. They live in hell and want to escape it.
As i said,i feel sorry for alot of people that are already here and for me charity begins at home. If we can sort out what is already here and build more houses etc then i may change my mind.
Building more houses is a piece of piss. There are swathes of green belt across the country that are unseen and unused but one hippy objecting to it being developed is enough to slow the process down for years. Round the corner from me there is a huge plot of green belt that has a planning application on it for a load of new houses. It will be refused. The land isn't accessible or used at the minute so you would only know it exists if you flew over it. ****ing joke.
The country is a joke full stop, thats why we can't cope with what we've got and shouldn't be taking more.Red tape and madness are issues here.
I wouldn't like to see all the green land built on, that would be a shame. I also see so many homeles people on the streets so what about homes for them? I agree that we should take our share of genuine asylum seekers because, as you say, they come from horrendous situations that we can only imagine. It's a situation where the powers that be have to get the balance right. I won't hold my breath though.
I'm talking about the green you can't see. There's thousands of acres of it. You don't know it's there!
Actually agree with 95% of this but immigration would be the biggest factor if you lived in Burnley and such places where the indigenous population are a minority. Obviously they will probably vote out for the wrong reasons as they probably see coming out as a chance to install a workable immigration policy that would limit a further influx on their plight.
What's more disappointing is that Cameron is not man enough to front his campaign; it's another re-run of the Scottish independence vote where for most of the time he was in hiding - his EU campaign so far has been a masterclass in hand-holding.
because hes desperately unpopular, as the right generally want to leave, and the left generally dislike him for his centre right policies. in both referendums he can't be the figurehead because his approval ratings are crap.
This is something that really irks me armchair. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36295208 EU Referendum: Boris Johnson compares EU's aims to Hitler's is the headline, here is what he actually said (with a little preface from the article): "Speaking to the Sunday Telegraph, Mr Johnson said European history had seen repeated attempts to rediscover the "golden age of peace and prosperity under the Romans". "Napoleon, Hitler, various people tried this out, and it ends tragically. The EU is an attempt to do this by different methods," he said "But fundamentally what is lacking is the eternal problem, which is that there is no underlying loyalty to the idea of Europe. "There is no single authority that anybody respects or understands. That is causing this massive democratic void."" now can somebidy tell me, where is the contraversy here? How can anybody say that what he has written is incorrect? Isn't it the ethos of the EU parliment to create an organisation of ever "closer union" both fiscally and politically? (i.e. bring all of europe under one central authority). I dont know if its working, but the media in the western world is trying to make us all fools; this pc hand wringing, death by online contraversy thing makes me sick. If you have a point say it, but dont twist things to make it look like the man is a fool, he's just written COMMON SENSE!
i want out, agree with you and whats been said.Thing is its turning into a big joke with both sides putting their feet in it.
The Romans, Napoleon and Hitler all used force of arms and invaded (much like Putin is preparing Russia to do), comparing the two is ****ing idiotic, the best comparison is the United States, but that would kill his argument dead.
Putin is defending his country. Hes done nothing we wouldnt do if we were provoked by a coalition of hostile nations. Nato, a us satelite state created in Ukraine etc...at what point does the eu and us take culpability for stokimg tensions? People dont think for themselves nowadays. Thats why half the country is still wondering how we're on the way out of the eu. OPEN YOUR EYES.
