v Leeds (Sat) Instead of lining up down the left and hoping DG can get his head to the usual ball lumped towards the touchline, the ball is tapped to Buckley who speeds past four defenders and crosses for Sordell to tap in...0-1...18 seconds... Well, a bloke can dream, can't he?
Conceding early goals has been something of a theme in the second half of our season. We were 3-0 at Cardiff after 30 mins. We conceded in the very first minute at Nottingham Forest and at home to Preston. Dale Bennett's own goal at home to Burnley happened around the 10 minute mark plus the two recently. Having said that we scored a lot early on in the first half of the season. It even's itself out i guess!
If everything evens out ,I`m still waiting for the shed loads of pens owed !! or decent officials ,thats another serious deficit!
At leadt if you concede early you can recover! Id say its a statiscal anomyly perhaps combined with how we try and impose ourselves quickly leaving us open to the breakaway- lets not forget we have also scored a lot early on!
I am really hoping we survive the first 10 mins on saturday , will have a chance then to get into the game !! I am sure dirty weeds will come flying out the blocks!!
I believe we have come back from more losing positions this year than last season. And we took the lead against norwich this week. And i stand by what i said- concede in the first minute and you have 89 to recover, concede in the 90 and you have o I do wonder if the unsettled nature of the defence has played a part- from AT joining till jan it was virtualy(if not totaly) unchanged since then its barely played two games the same in sucession. Its probably natural then the defence has been shaky early on
In fact during that November spell we had a spate of going 1-0 down, getting 2 back then finally losing 3-2.
Roo- your point is statistically correct - and we would all rather have 89 minutes rather than 1 to recover - but how many wins do we have this season after conceding an early goal?
Agreed Roo but games are hard enough as it is , there is no need for us to be so nice and give everyone else a headstart!!
