We have't done one of these in a while, but let's compile a team of the better players we've had since RD's takeover. Will be interesting to see how well the situation could be different. Henderson Solly - Gomez - Bauer - Wiggins JBG - Cousins - Stephens - Lookman Magennis - Kermorgant That team, on it's day, is top 10 championship imo. I've resisted to say top 6 as the Championship is so tough to call, but it's a sad state of affairs when you look at where we might be. Our owner is rich enough to have resisted bids for several players there, though it's more the mismanagement that saw players wish to leave (ask Cousins). The only position I struggled to fill was LB - that's probably due to every manager seemingly rating Fox.
That's always been the most perplexing part of Duchatelet's regime; at all of the times we were in the Championship we were only 4 or 5 players and a decent manager away from the Premier League and untold riches. Minimal investment could have yielded massive returns. Instead he's made minimal money from minimal output (largely by selling players). It's just odd business sense from a businessman.
Would stick Lookman up top with Yann and stick Bulot on the left. He was fantastic when he came back from the African nations. Maybe unfair on Magennis as he has been great this season, although that is in a terrible League 1.
Lepoint is a victim of formation. A 3 man midfield and he walks in. Think there is a case for Bulot - he was sorely missed after we penny pinched with his fee. Didn't the new standard owner take issue with how the transfer was due to play out?
But going to Football is not a matter of winning matches. It is about meeting your friends, enjoying the match day experience and having a boogie afterwards
