Danny Drinkwater has been charged with violent conduct by the FA, The charge relates to an incident that went unseen by the officials in the Foxes 2-1 defeat away at Watford last weekend in which the midfielder appeared to elbow Hornets man Valon Behrami. Drinky could now face a 3 match ban! This will leave Kingy and Armarty in midfield with little backup in the squad, CR does not seem to trust young Bartosz Kapustka yet or think Matty Jamies has recover enough from injury. This could prove a massive blow in our plan to kick start our Premier League hunt for points. Also I believe Huth and Simpson are one yellow away from a ban and with drinky’s problem could be a rough time for us ahead?
Putting all of our eggs in one basket by only going after 1 defender in the last transfer window and Mendy being a crock will bite us on the arse - at least we would have an excuse for playing so ****e though.
Drinkwater has accepted the charge. 3 match ban. http://mobile.lcfc.com/news/article...ity-midfielder-accepts-fa-charge-3433888.aspx
Those crucial Mboro and Sunderland games have just got alot harder! Would like to see 4-5-1 with King and Amartey playing deep of Mahrez, this seems the most logical step with our abundance of wingers to support Vardy.
As much as I appreciate Danny Drinkwater's effort and overall contribution to the team, this could provide us with an opportunity to see if Albrighton can play as a midfielder. He certainly has the engine for it. It might also make us less likely to concede possession. I would have preferred to try Albrighton out alongside Drinkwater rather than instead of him, but we are where we are. We have enough wide men to compensate for Albrighton, so it could work out well. Hopefully we'll see. When the going gets tough we step up.
Rather then teach old dogs new tricks, I'd rather us play an actual CM there - King and Amartey will start with either Bart (who can play CM) and Matty James (who is coming back to full fitness) on the bench.
I'm thinking there wouldn't be so many hopeful dinks over the top or first touch layoffs that go astray. Only guessing.....You have to be optimistic about these things.
I'm not sure how effective King and Amartey would be together. Neither has much drive going forwards through the middle. Anyway, old dog and new tricks? How difficult can it be for a professional footballer to make that transition? If Wayne can do it then so can Marc Albrighton.
King hasn't any drive? Don't you remember him in the Championship when he scored over a dozen goals for us bursting forward from deep. His problem playing with Drinkwater is that he is doing too much - with Amartey who is almost purely a DM, he doesn't need to rein in his attacking instincts. Also Rooney cannot do it - that is the problem with him...
There's a difference between arriving in the box late and being able to drive the team forward from deep by taking the ball past opponents, and he doesn't have that ability. You're right about Rooney, though. That was a bad example.
You don't drive the team forward from the wings. You spread play by doing that. You drive through the heart of the field.
And we never have done that - if you look at the stats from last season, the only players running with the ball from deep were Mahrez and Albrighton. Drinkwater and Kante mostly either passed to them or to Vardy - they never really ran with the ball and drove play forward like that.
