He might have been professional, but so was Winston Bogarde at Chelsea, didn't stop him being a parasite. Xisco was professional with us because he was on a lucrative contract that was paying far more than he was worth, it was in his interest to be professional.

He was 21 when he arrived, which whilst being young isn't a kid, he'd already played plenty of first team football before us, and rather than a promising youngster than had potential, was a player who clearly was never up to it.

I don't hate him, he was just a crap player who was lucky to get a good contract at a huge club that was far above his worth, might have scored a consolation tap in on his debut, but apart from that was a testament to how backwards the recruitment was with Dennis Wise and the reason Keegan quit.

He was playing for Spain u21s so he wasn't without ability when we signed him and he was a young lad in a foreign country and he entire fan base turned on him and the club was in turmoil- imagine how that would feel knowing the manager left because you were signed

Regardless of the turmoil at the club when he came, that was long since over by the time we got back into the Prem, and he had plenty of time to prove himself and get himself out of the reserve team and back into the first team, but he wasn't good enough simple as that....hence why he went to a second tier Spanish team after us.

I doubt I'd have missed it tbh, but then I'm not a professional football, and I bet I'm much better at my day job than Xisco would be. If I go to a restaurant and the meal is disgusting, I don't just accept it because I'm not a qualified chef myself.

Yes, he was crap. I saw him play with my own eyes and he really didn't look like he could make the grade with all the chances in the world.
