Jaks performance today was waiting to happen. He's made howlers vs Burnley and Arsenal and was incredibly lucky to get away with them. It wasn't going to last forever. While he has been in great form and totally earned the No1 spot, we can't risk him next week. Unfortunately our best keeper is playing for Cardiff.
I was against dropping Marshall for previously stated reasons. Right now I'm against dropping Jakupovic for similar reasons. I mean if it happens so be it, but I don't think the goalie is a big problem. Chopping and changing looks a bit desperate. I think Marco will be more composed than that. Presumably he thinks Jak is our best keeper so unless Jak makes more errors like today he'll probably stay in. No one's immune from mistakes and in my opinion we have three good goalies including McGregor.
Our problems are at both ends. If jak He's out of form. Three successive games where he's dropped a clanger is too many. Next Saturday is a must win, we can't risk a fourth.
I still think The Jak is by far our best keeper. The problem is none of our keepers are good enough. I really couldn't believe he was shortlisted for PotM or indeed that people on here voted for him. Embarrassing.
Out of all three I prefer McGregor especiallu for his distribution. But I love the Jaks passion surely helps the fans and the team however you do worry with most shots there's a chance of a fumble or a bad decision from him waiting to happen.
I couldn't fault him for the second goal personally. bad to be beaten at your near post yes, but with a wall of players in front of you, if the other 10 didn't know where Mahrez was going how the hell did he know.. And as Sterling said clanger against Burnley..?...
Let's be honest, if it were Marshall who'd conceded yesterday's goals, people would be up in arms and demanding he were dropped. I agree with Askew. Our best keeper is on loan at Cardiff.
Jak was not the reason we lost. Should have been better for our first but don't think he was at fault for either of the other two goals (despite some saying he was at fault for the Mahrez goal). Not the source of our issues at the moment. That's our right side.
For the first perhaps. If Marshall had produced Jak's form from the last month I'd probably forgive him for the first goal as I have Jak.
What utter nonsense this thread is. Take away the lackadaisical defending and the excellent finishing, then add a need to blame someone and I suppose this thread might be merited. We neither attack the goal, or their attacks 100%, thats the problem; not the GK. Cure: spend less time listening to bankrupt pundits.
I voted for him cos he's a City player and I'd like to see him win it. Doesn't matter if he actually deserves it. Most of the votes cast will be fans voting for their own clubs' player.
Kinnell Fez, it must be bad enough having to stick an application in to the Insolvency Service adjudicator, without a pair of financial ****wits akin to Merson and Thompson talking knaa know ****e about it. I'm away to count me pennies. I ain't gonna risk that scenario.
Early on, he dropped a totally routine cross under no pressure, onto the crossbar. Was very lucky. Also noticed he was really hesitant coming of his line in the second half. Defenders were expecting him to come and he appeared rooted.
He got a full hand/ arm to it and palmed it into the net. I'm sure he will be very disappointed with himself.
I wouldn't call that a clanger, had it gone in then perhaps. But it didn't. I'm not sure what the outfield equivalent is, a pass nearly going astray?
I've always said the jak isn't a premiership keeper and I maintained that when he was playing well (excellently in fact). The issue is I thought Marshall would be much better than he's shown this season. I've seen nowt from Marshall to suggest dropping jak would improve the GK position. We've not had a good number 1 since Myhill left.
