    House prices within the zone are out my reach as they go fir well above asking price due to the school being in high demand

    I can get a mortgage for house value but don't have the extra cash for the bidding war

    They're open to all, pud. They're the 2 best primaries in your area. Probably less than 30% were catholic when my boy was there.

    I have friends who teach at Jordanhill, live in the catchment and choose not to put their son at the school.

    Aye but ye still get exposed to religion ...

    But end of the day , I'll be checking out schools n a few years time for results , reports etc

    I'll send baby pud to best school in area ...no matter st or non Dom

    If st , I'll make sure they don't get RE

    I don't think it's possible to do that in an RC school. You can ask but invariably your wishes will be ignored. My son's girlfriend sends her daughter to a local RC primary school and has asked for the kid to be excused RE content. No luck, she was actually sent to the chapel last week.

    Dunno what all the fuss is about. Why wouldn't you want your child to get as much knowledge as possible, including all religions in RE? They're not forced to participate if they don't want to. Might make them more tolerant than their parents <whistle>

    Are they getting tought all religions when they visit Chapel? And actually kids are being forced to participate. That is faith schools raison d'etre Tina old chap.
