Delighted again For Neil and his men As once more he staved off the mob, To again dismay The thousands who bay Each week, that he should lose his job Perhaps now the penny Will drop for the many That he still has the boards´ full trust, And with every win Sacking won´t begin It´s deeply buried picking up dust And rightly so This loyalty show From Delia´s governing crop, Puts many to shame Who just think this game Is musical chairs at the top Now all we need Is for fans to heed The message that they´re sending out, Then maybe the assembly Will revisit Wembley In May, for one more knockout bout. Love it Can't beat a bit of "I told you so" after a reasonable (not as clinical as it could / should have been, by all accounts) result. With a left back as makeshift goalkeeper. Sure doesn't take much to make your Canary sing, hey? Admire your eternal optimism, can't see much realism, though? This football club is a long, long way short of where it ought to be.
It´s got nothing to do with I told you so, I actually thought we´d only draw, and I at least, am realistic enough to see at the moment, that this is exactly where we ought to be. So that unlike thousands of others, I don´t start clamouring for change every other week, when the almost inevitable defeat comes our way. Something tells me that perhaps Delia and the board have also resigned themselvers to that fact too.
In which case, why the patronising, sanctimonious "perhaps the penny will drop"? Makes it sounds as if it should have been patently obvious to the thick minions out there (here) from day one that we were just a bang average team, with no genuine aspirations of progress? I refuse to accept that, sorry. We are / should be better than that.
Whilst it was a good and deserved win, (we should have had a penalty when Murphy was felled just inside the area) I'm still giving up my season ticket and will take 'Priority Membership' or whatever it is instead, so that I van still go to games occasionally. In the first half especially, we were guilty of giving the ball away to our opponents quite regularly and with better opposition, we could have been punished.
I read that more that, much as we may not like it, we should get used to the fact that this board will stick with him for the 'foreseeable' Just another view, that's all.
Indeed, and I'm fairly sure that's how it was intended, Gandy. I just took objection to some of the wording, which I quoted, making anyone who believes otherwise seem like they're just behaving like a naughty, petulant, trouble-making schoolchild. Apologies if I was meant to have just thrown a bunch of red flowers at it and tugged my forelock, bowing to supremacy. No offence intended
Well if you understood it that way, which was how it was intended, why the need for such petulance? And I´ll gladly accept the apology, by the way, even if it was directed at gandy.
Right. So let's pretend our season is all hunky dory, and if/when we do win one game in three / four (ish) wax all lyrical with some patronising verse and pretend that this is what we want for the next 9.5 years? OK, gotcha - that's what we'll do, then
Oh dear, can't help feeling that's a bit mean. I know it's 'de rigeur' to have a go at anyone overtly optimistic just now, and I admit to not entirely sharing RBF's cheery disposition, but come on, patronising it isn't.
Not my intention, and if misconstrued then apologies but how else am I supposed to interpret " Perhaps now the penny Will drop for the many" To me, that's finger wagging chastisement, an "I told you so" type comment, the sort of thing a mother would say to an out of order schoolkid. But hey, we beat Lambo 3 - 1, so who cares
Well, all I can say is we interpreted it differently. For what it's worth, I'm probably closer to your view of the mess we're in, and struggle to see things improving as the pot of gold continues to be depleted. Still, if people want to see it rosier than my miserable outlook, that's fine by me, and yes, beating 'I'm out of here' Lambert wasn't the worst that could happen.
Lovely poem again mate. But I think you need to look at the form, and the record. Before the smarmy poem about how good his is. Coz 1 win every 6-7 games, with a Premiership squad, with a few years Premiership money. That's not somthing I feel all that happy or light hearted about. Despite our great win today against 10 men with no GK. Where it was 1-1 before the keeper went, the pen given, and the LB put in goal for the remainder.
Cromer was just looking out for the thick minions who he feared would misinterpret the message..... and of course, he is not one of them ! In fact RBF, Cromer has shown himself to be far more patronizing than most. And as Gandy suggested, anyone with a more optimistic outlook, or is simply more resigned to the fact that it will be an uphill battle to bounce straight back up, is more often than not, ridiculed. Many have chosen to leave the forum and the remaining few either post infrequently , or not at all. Yesterday's victory keeps us in touch with the play offs, and although perhaps not cause for wild celebrations, there is no harm in allowing some supporters Canaries to sing from time to time .
Absolutely Gandy and we're all entitled to our opinion, though I'm in the 'we're still in trouble' camp and firmly believe that nothing much will change with the current board in charge and they appear willing to accept our current league position. I'm just hopeful that at least some of those who've said that they're not going to renew their season tickets do so, as I've been talking to several who've said that whilst they're p155ed with the football on offer, for them it's as much about meeting up with friends they've made over the years and having a few pre match beers and I can see that and it's certainly something I'll miss. Mind you, I'm not sure the board will care one iota!!! Absolutely mike and we've had precious few occasions to sing about this season!!!
Oh I think they will, JM, but they´ve got no control over the way supporters act. Your relinquishing of a season ticket will just be your loss and someone else´s gain, is how they´ll see it I´m sure. Sad for you, but a chance for someone else.
