Would he not be cup tied anyway, without bringing him on, if he was on the bench? He had to sit in the stands and watch his team, Portsmouth win the FA Cup not too long ago.
I was listening to Talk Sport this morning. Dean Ashton (ex West Ham) called in to "preview tonight's Cup game v Man City". All they did was talk about whether or not West Ham should sign Defoe up - would it be right or wrong for them to do so. It was like they were taking him from the dole queue. The fact that he is contracted to us appears irrelevant in the London biased media
http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-sunderland-striker-jermain-defoe-sky-sources SSN reporting they've ended their interest now. Good on SAFC I say for sticking by their guns
Rooney gets in by doing **** all at a mid table team so if Defoe was scoring goals for one yes I think he would
If he does then that would certainly look like he's only not getting picked because he's here! (That's my way of saying I have no idea!!)
If he goes and then gets picked, think it proves the point about Sunderland players and their England prospects. No player with ambition to play for England is ever going to consider us.
They've bid 3m for Snodgrass apparently. Another insulting bid. So this is their plan, make interest public early in the window with insulting bids for players, then proceed to try and unsettle them. Their stadium, Fans, sending their ex players out as work minions to unsettle targets and their whole attitude to transfers. They're fast going to become a hate club the way they're going on. Never used to mind West Ham, Brooking aside. Can't stand them now.
Maybe this might put a few jangled nerves to rest, it's taken from BBC Sports. .................................... Sunderland boss David Moyes says Jermain Defoe is not for sale amid speculation about the veteran striker's future. The club rejected a £6m bid from West Ham for the 34-year-old on Wednesday and the Hammers were reportedly willing to double their bid. "We have said Jermain is not for sale and he is not for sale. West Ham made a bid and we rejected it," Moyes said. Defoe is Sunderland's top scorer with 11 goals in 21 appearances this season. He signed a one-year contract extension in June which runs until 2019. "We have never asked for a second bid, we have never put a price on him, not at any time," continued Moyes. "He's really important to us. Everybody knows that and the club has already come out and said that. "There has been very little said from Sunderland. The talking has all come from other people, not from here." Moyes also confirmed Defoe would be involved "in some way" when Sunderland host Burnley in the FA Cup on Saturday. The England striker joined Sunderland in January 2015 and has scored 33 goals in 74 games including more than 50% of the team's 19 league goals this season. He started his senior career with West Ham before moving to Tottenham in 2004. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38529279
It's a ****ing disgrace what West Ham are doing. Putting insulting bids in for players around them because the mighty bubble blowers are in the **** as well. Bilic saying "I don't want to talk about another clubs player because he's contracted to them" - then goes on and talks exclusively about them for 2 whole minutes undisrupted. It's bordering on tapping the players up, or at least letting everyone else do it for them.
They are probably bidding for players using the money they have saved on stadium running costs - cnuts Had to laugh at a skysports jouno on twitter he says something like "what are West Ham doing? Defoe for 5 mill, Snodgrass 3 mill they will be bidding £30 and a chunky Kit Kat for Diego Costa next"
