Sky Sports are reporting that West Ham have come in with a £6m bid for Defoe. We've wasted no time in knocking it back. Really hope we tell them to go **** themselves. He's at an age where he's worth more to the selling club than he is to any buying club.
Apparently they've told us to name our price. I'd tell them to go **** themselves but would understand if we let him go for about £90m... The cost of going down.
I'd like to know who on their side is leaking all of this to the media We have known that this bid would be coming for weeks now. I didn't think this was allowed as it unsettles the player
He'd cost £30m to replace so start the bidding at £40m (I reckon we'd get a capable replacement for that much) Gold and Sullivan have always been ****s when it comes to this sort of stuff
He can request but we can turn it down unless it's on our terms - Did it with Kone and would expect him to do it with Defoe too
I would hope so, but it can unsettle the players performance, at the start of the season, Kone was really poor.
I'm relying on the fact he seems settled in the area, has been captain on occasions, he knows he is an absolute favourite with the crowd and was he still banging that pole dancer?
If a club genuinely doesn't want to sell, I wish their was a mechanism whereby we could inform the FA that we have '' today told West ham to go away' so any further contact or rumour from their end will be a breach of whatever rule on transfers/tapping up etc
Nobody is gonna pay silly money for Defoe, if he goes it'll be for something in the region of £10m. The only player I can even begin to imagine replacing him at that price, and it'd perhaps be a good move, is Berahino. It's the closest thing to suicide by a football team you're likely to see really if this happens.
Selling him for anything near realistic market value would be absolutely catastrophic. If they did stump up 15m and we sold we'd be absolutely ****ed.
