I keep hearing that and tbf a few years ago I would have agreed. But why do people feel Romero couldn't do the job? Is there better out there ? Of course But I would say he is better than what City have, better than mignolet and not far off lloris who I really rate
I'm comparing him to De Gea, who is in the top three keepers on the world. I'd be hard pushed to say Romero is in the top 20. He's ok but why on earth would we downgrade? I accept completely that he looks a mile better this season than he did last season but we really should aim to have the very best in goal and we already do. That person is De Gea.
OP is about DDG potentially leaving chief. I was posting in that context, albeit I do think DDGs weakness is leaving his line
I thought I was too but to be absolutely spot on, the OP is actually about Matthew not being worried about De Gea leaving. The conversation kind of evolved from that, but if it's only about stating an opinion in relation to De Gea leaving my opinion is he shouldn't leave and that Romero is not good enough to be our No.1 keeper. I'm not worried either really as I don't think he will leave.
Actually agree with that tbh. Its silly season as per and UTD are going to be full of speculation, moreso than ever due to Jose. Don't think DDG is going anywhere On a slightly more contentious note I don't think not will be because he doesn't want to necessarily but like Pep at City the goalie role is changing where all want him to play out with the ball from the back. Not sure DDG fits that role
Hope not, my preference is for a goal keeper to be exactly that. Less pissing about. As long as he's making saves to keep the ball out of the net I couldn't care if he then just hoofs the ball forward!
Abso-****ing-lutely. The sweeper keeper is nothing new, but it only works if you are first and foremost an outstanding goalkeeper, a la Neuer, not a disaster waiting to happen like Bravo. Next they will be telling us that striker role is changing and they no longer need to score goals, they just need to be really good at defending corners.
Rumour has it that Real will offer Morata for De Gea + cash. As they value Morata at around £40M it will be interesting what you value De Gea at. Apparently Jan Oblak's representatives are in Manchester discussing a move as well.
Doubt they want to get rid of Kroos - he is a first team starter who Zidane sings the praises of while Morata is the 3rd choice striker.
BBC is linking you with Samir Handanovic and Gianluigi Donnarumma if De Gea leaves - also says that Olbak is unlikely if you get Griezemann. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39741394
I want this saga to end one way or another, I don't want it to drag on and on, If he stays, I'll be delighted, If he goes, I'll be gutted but I'll thank him for his services, He's been one of our best signings in the last 10 years, easily, To think a lot of people wrote him off during his first season with us, Not me, I knew he'd come good for us despite his doubters saying otherwise.
Sky suggesting that we might go for Kasper Schmeichel in the event that De Gea leaves - all bolliks of course ............ http://www.skysports.com/football/n...ing-kasper-schmeichel-to-replace-david-de-gea
Exactly! You're better off with that Italian kid or that Slovakian who just conceded a Ronaldo hat-trick... BTW Kasper also used to play for Man City as well and you don't want anyone with their stink on them so best just leave him be...
