Both FB positions are really difficult positions to play especially in today's game and the way MP wants them to get forward. So easy to get caught out of position- and then commentators will highlight it. They also need to rely heavily on pace-this is why unfortunately he probably won't be with us to the end of his career , as the time will come when he will slow down and someone will overtake him and he will probably drop down a league.
The Telegraph are reporting that he had to play on with a hamstring injury against Slovakia and could miss the next three weeks. Time for us to start pretending our players are injured when internationals come up?
Really don't know why we don't, every other club is. As gutting as it is (if true), we've got a top replacement to step in if need be.
This is contemptible, given Luke Shaw pulled out. I swear that if Spurs were on for the quadruple courtesy of no England involvement, tossers like Alan Green would be saying : Why aren't Spurs players being selected ?? They are playing well enough to start.
Not at all. Do you not appreciate our DOF and the Google SEO work he does for when our coach + scouting network use the Internet to find new talent ??
I see absolutely no reason to replace Davies at the moment. He's playing really well and getting better at this "wing back thing". His goal against Newcastle was superb, not because of the strike but because he got into that position in the first place.
He was getting all kinds of abuse from some loudmouth half a block away from me in the Burnley match. The most generous thing he shouted was "you're not fit to lick Danny Rose's boots". I've never understood what people get from that sort of behaviour.
This season he has not been effective at the away team doing serious bus parking. In the away games this has not been a problem for him. So purely on that basis, you could argue to at least squad rotate LB for a lot of PL away games and give Davies a lot more starts than he gets when Rose is fully fit.
Davies crossing and cut backs are top notch right now. If he was pacier, then he'd be at the very top in his position. However, he's still improving his game and understanding, so he's going to be a very, very good player without being someone that attracts an oil club.
What a ****ing idiot. 1) It's not true and 2) Even if you believe it is that's gonna be a **** thing for BD to hear 3) A large majority of the people who hear you think you're a total tosser. I guess he got people's attention?! More and more I have to remember that people say stuff not necessarily because they believe it but because of the effect they think saying it will have. And a lot of the time people want nothing more than attention.
It's easy to forget that Davies is still only 24 and a good few years off his peak. Whilst I still rate Rose as the better overall player, I don't hesitate to say that Davies at this age is far better than Rose was 3 years ago. The only glaring weakness in Davies' inventory is that he tends to get skinned by attackers with real pace. There isn't much to be done about this problem, although as he gets older and 'wiser', he'll learn how to deal with them more effectively. Charlie proved that you can move slower than a sloth with a groin rash and still be a cracking full back.
I was thinking of Corluka before you said it! He was great. Like if Berbatov had decided to be a right back. It really does help to be very good at football if you're gonna be a football player.
