I respect Fletcher's commitment and work ethic but I felt he limited our style of football after his peak in 2009 (even before his illness). Having said that, upto 2009 I thought he was very effective. I'm convinced we would have beaten Barca in 2009 had Fletcher not been suspended for that final. His importance that year was very similar to that of Wes Brown as RB in 2008 to winning the prem and CL double.
Personally I thought it was the loss of Ronaldo that limited our style of football after 2009. Fletcher was one of the players who stepped up a lot after that - in 09/10 and the first half of 10/11 he was immense. If anything his form allowed us to compensate for the loss of Ronaldo by doing the work in the centre of the park and also getting involved in the attacks, so we didn't feel the impact of having the more limited Valencia on the right as much. He wasn't a water carrier, but he made other players perform better all over the park, which I think is what Drinkwater has brought to Leicester this season.
Now Sky stirring the proverbial pooh..... Remember where you heard it first ! Don't have him down as a Jose type player.... He's too English !
Strange rumour this one. Drinkwater is a good player but I'd be genuinely baffled if we were after him given we have Ander Herrera and Schneiderlin who are more than capable of playing in his position. That's without mentioning Pogba.
This. Do we need a thread in which people come in to slag Rooney off? No. We don't. Please accept it and move on.
We had a thread that slagged off our own manager for almost a year. So what's changed? Besides, we actually have Wayne as a starting 11. Why close a thread on an active player that is causing such divisive debate based on his shyte performance? Isn't that what a forum is for? We still have Stevie G's B-S appreciation thread stuck up our forum and we close off Rooney's thread? It's obvious that you can't stand the debate on Rooney. But you have to remember that we don't have much threads going on. Regardless of your perspective on the debate, you should let it come to it's natural conclusion. What's the point of not being able to talk about our own player on the club's forum?
You do realise that the Gerrard appreciation thread isn't actually an appreciation of him? And that it's been there for five years. No? It's that irony thing again. Are you SURE you were born in Hackney because most of us Brits get such ****.
No, I'm not sure. You'd have to ask my mother. Are you sure you are? I've never opened Stevie's thread to read it. His name does not interest me. It still doesn't change the point that closing that thread is because you disagree with it. Regardless, should let threads stay if they are not being derailed. You said it yourself... Why have Rooney in every thread when it can simply be in one place? But hey, you're the moderator!
