Crystal Palace midfielder Alassane N'Diaye has joined Southend United on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old has played 42 games for the Eagles since his debut back in 2009. But the youngster has been out-of-favour in recent times.

He joined Swindon on loan for the end of last season, and manager Dougie Freedman has decided to ship him out once again in order to get more first-team football.

N'Diaye admitted that he consulted with former Shrimper Adam Barrett was key to his season long loan spell.

He said: "I spoke with Adam before signing and he told me that Southend was a good club, he said it would be a good experience if I put in the hard work.

"It's a one year deal and I am looking to get some games and some experience and then we'll see what happens at the end of that. I will work harder than before to prove myself."
