You mean like when they asked the last one out to turn the lights out when supposedly tens of thousands descended on Wembley for their one and only rugby match. FC averaged about 12,000 that season and Rovers 8,000.
Was just gonna post about the state of the Wembley pitch Players are well spoilt these days and fans are following suit out of sympathy
Not sure what this reply has to do with my comment? When you say they, was it not the HDM that came up with that slogan? I know it was on the front page. When you say one and only rugby match I'm sure they have played more than once! Or you mean the only time FC and KR have played Wembley at the same time?
It was a flag left up on a bridge. And forever quoted by numbnuts like Gollum. When I say their one and only rugby match I mean it was the only time they have attended a rugby match. A lot went to that game who have never been to another final before or since. Or another rugby match.
Happens with every club no matter which sport. Others don't big it up like the HDM and RH, especially Gollum and the the former FC "It's rough, it's tough, it's rugby league" reporter do.
We knock the ball about between Huddlestone and the CBs and then someone hits one over the top for a striker or advancing winger... every time. Hardly a 'decent passing side'.
Right understand now but saying that we had people doing the same first time we got to Wembley and or when we got to the FA cup final! I remember the bed sheet been hung from a bridge on the A63 but wasn't sure if it was before or after the headline in the HDM Back to ground sharing, FC are never going to move out in less city buy them out of the lease and Build them a 18k stadium.
Games are played friday night because 1) corporate pound 2) to leave sat/sun free if city have a tv game 3) its a sky game night so fixtures are less likely to get moved I agree the fixtures should be alternate weekends and as someone else said city get priority in april/ may and fc in aug/sep
Friday night games are the preferred game day but not all games are scheduled for the Friday, this was started after the club put a vote out to its season members! They played the pre season games on Sunday's, they play Cas on a Sunday. You would think though that the scheduling would keep FC away the weekend City are at home, you might get them playing same weekend if a cup game or play off game but should never happen in a league game. Didn't city and FC play on the same day once?
Nothings been as bigged up as much as Hull City's visit to 1st play off final or FA Cup final in the HDM.
Already covered on page 2... Just had a quick Google and it seems they played Friday nights in the 2008 and 2009 seasons and there were loads of protests, they switched back for the 2012 season but it wasn't as successful as hoped and they went back to Friday's in 2013.
Quite rightly so. The two biggest sporting events, and the most widely watched involving a local club.
Amazing how many FC fans worked Friday nights and this would, it was claimed, affect attendances. Sunday attendances were affected by so many going for days out. Seriously, this is what was claimed at the time.
As a news organisation the BBC has really gone down the tubes in the past decade in my estimation. Lord Reith must be spinning in his grave.
They've lost a lot of funding so not too surprised. They're trying to adapt to the new media industry where you need attention grabbing headlines. Someone in the Australia group was getting very angry at an article declaring Jak wanted to prove Marshall wasn't needed when that wasn't word for word what he said. People need to accept that media is in a bad way in terms of revenue and funding and at the end of the day journalists need to get paid.

Backhouse, who now works as an Installation Supervisor at SIS Pitches, worked at Hull City for nine years, two of which he spent working with a SISGrass pitch installed by SIS Pitches. He now travels the world to help install the product in his new role, and has carried out work in the Middle East, Germany, Greece, Turkey as well as a number of projects in the UK. Having worked on a quick-fire SISGrass installation at Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium and witnessed AFC Bournemouth becoming the first Premier League club to have a new SISGrass hybrid pitch installed, Backhouse believes more football clubs should follow suit. “The playability of SISGrass pitches is fantastic, the quality can make a groundsmans’ life so much easier and obviously I have worked on both sides,” said Backhouse. “It is very important that our team are made up of groundsmen who understand both the grass and also what football clubs want. “The feedback that we have had from players and clubs across the UK and also abroad has been incredible. It is an important part of the job to ensure that players enjoy playing on the surface. “Of course, the pitch has to be maintained but my advice to football clubs would be to have SISGrass installed, it is one of the best playing surfaces in the world. “The yarn and polypropylene fibres that we use stand up in the grass and as a result the ball moves faster across the surface. This means that the chances of playing more free-flowing football are increased greatly.” Having spent a number of years working for a football club, Backhouse has only been at SIS Pitches for a little over six months. However, he has already seen a rapid rise in the company. SIS Pitches have landed a number of prestigious projects across the country but have also confirmed deals to design, construct and maintain four pitches for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, including the Luzhniki Stadium, which will host the final. “SIS Pitches and in particular SISGrass will continue to grow from strength to strength, it is incredible what has been achieved in the last six months alone. “There is so much variety to the work we do and to be able to travel around building pitches and dealing with different groundsmen every day is fantastic. “The team we have is excellent, everyone has a great spirit about them but also a determination to ensure that our clients receive the best possible service.”
