Feck me Liverpool have just turned down yet another bid off barca for 109m???? How the feck can they justify doing that? Hes probs one of the best #10s in the country but tbats just a ridiculous amount especially considering his injury record. Sigurdsons also just been sold for 50m. Footballs gone mad, no wonder newly promoted teams find it so hard to get players of a high calibre in.
Mate, I've just been reading that and thought to myself, the championship is a better place to be, no pre-madonas engineering moves away, no diving and feigning injuries, no stomping about demanding this that and the other, Sky has ruined the beautiful game at the top level
Mine has seriously declined. Admittedly I did enjoy the Championship but being back in the PL it's just more of the same as before. It seriously drains me and quite frankly I have more important things going on that fill my weekends
I want us to win the league but then decline the invitation to the premiership and stay where we are. Its much more enjoyable down here. We are so far behind the most average of premiership teams, it's unreal.
I think we are all going to enjoy life in the championship and if it ends with another trip to Wembley bring it on
I've said myself about the prices for Coutinho and Sigurdsson, both of them absolutely ridiculous. I feel like I must be thinking about a different player because I can't believe someone would value either that highly.
Daft as it is, Coutinho is a magnificent player and Liverpool a wealthy club. This day and age, they sell him, how do they replace him. I absolutely admire them saying '**** off we are trying to compete here'. He will go Barca on Liverpools terms, credit Liverpool for digging in. Who do they replace him with? There's not a player like him they can but in my opinion. He's a superb, game changing player and there's better or equal, they'd cost the same money back in the current market, or more. The game, or the money, has gone ****ing bastard.
financial fair play my arse, it only benefits the rich clubs, whoever thought this one up wants shooting
Mate it's bullshit. UEFA try and tell the suoerclubs how they can operate they ****noff and form their own breakaway union. UEFA are **** all without them, PSG are the first to break ranks, believe me the rest will follow. FFP is the gateway to a European superleague, with **** all power giving to UEFA or FIFA. Just watch.
how the **** are we supposed to compete when just 1 player is worth more than our debt, and ffp stops us trying to compete
I don't think it would be corrupt mate. It would be the end of the league ladder as we know it, be a permanent champions league and clubs like us would be nothing. UEFA can kid themselves the run the game in Europe, but the day United, Madrid, Juve etc say 'who the **** do you think you are telling what to do?', then UEFA are done. The clubs have all the power, the billionaire owners have all the power. The game can go on without UEFA, UEFA can't exist without the clubs.
Not so sure, if a super League were formed then it would make a Middle league for say stoke down to Norwich, might not be a bad thing, the rules being imposed aren't happening so tbh I'm at a loss, like you said the game is a mess
Mate, love it or hate it the big guns matter. Do we look forward to Swansea like we do Chelsea? Stoke like united? Do we ****. A league with no prospect of those game has no long term viability. Like it or not, accept it or not, you want your team competing with the best. If that goes, what's left?
It's ****e mate but it's reality. Winning a league against lesser clubs is like if we win the championship. We've done it a few times and it's enjoyable but it's a means to an end and we have never treat it as a trophy as such. We never would. To be a champion you have to beat the best. It likely won't ever happen but imagine not having the chance to try. Not having the opportunity. We'd have to officially accept being less than an also ran forever. You just can't say that's worth the effort. I've often said we are a big club because of Newcastle. The 2 clubs together, the rivalry makes us what we are, it makes the rest of the league count us, in the way your Boltons, your Stoke, they can be stable, can be good clubs but will never be anything major. Be all end all, if that was ALL we had, we'd be nothing. We may as well play the Toon 38 times a year for bragging rights. Premier League 2 has been mooted. What a crock of **** would still be second tier and still nobody outside the league would give 2 ****s about it. Does anyone talk about Leeds? Wednesday? Forest? Do they **** and these are incredible clubs with history, fans, of major importance. We all need the big clubs to be noticed, there's no escaping that reality. Folk out of England, they only know Sunderland as they've seen us in the PL against the big lads. Time away and you aren't missed, you become basically nothing. We've got a years grace then we just get back up or we become nothing. That's how harsh commercialism has hit the game.
