I know he was marmite and signed some duds* but Dave Jones brought in some absolute legends- Mcphail, Bothroyd, McCormack, Chopra, Koumas, Burke, Marshall etc * Parkin, Glombard, Mulryne, Darlington, Taiwo etc (I could go on all day...) My query is whether these players brought in by NW pre season will turn out to be legends or duds? My initial thoughts are these are so so players and not marquee signings. Solid and probably dependable but not top 6 quality. We'll see.
Six days and not a single update to the ccfc BBC page. Not even a made up rumour. WoL no better. Recycling stuff or making up irrelevant stories about our most expensive combined teams or where are they now stories.
Not heard that aross here smh but he could be the missing link we require in midfield - if he loses a couple of stone.
Interesting to know what NW's favoured starting X1 and formation is going to be. The squad has options all over the pitch with certain positions well catered for.
http://www.nottinghampost.com/sport/football/former-nottingham-forest-star-lewis-248721 Lewis McGugan's trial has finished, and he wont be joining us.
Maybe we just went through the motions because we'd agreed to him trialling? With Ralls and Gunnar already on board (both better than him anyway) and then Loic Damour coming so good pre-season, it wasn't going to happen for McGugan in midfield with us. I'd prefer to keep O'Keefe as a back up (or even Halford ) When you factor in Tomlin at "no.10" with Mendez-Laing and Kadeem etc for the wide berths, where were we going to fit McGugan in?
Having seen the guy several times over the years I think he has talents. However, I also think there were attitude issues which took him outside Colin's team ethos and for those reasons he didn't fit in. A pity as he would have provided something we perhaps didn't have - having not seen Tomlin or Damour play yet. Agreed on O'Keefe but Halford?
OK, it's only the Daily Mail but they're carrying this today............. "Max Power could be allowed to leave Wigan Athletic for a cut-price £500,000 this summer. The 24-year-old has been frozen out by manager Paul Cook after saying he wanted to play at a higher level following the club's relegation. Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday and Rangers are all showing an interest in the energetic midfielder who made 45 appearances for Wigan last season." Maybe not the "star signing" we'd like in midfield, but he's only 24 and for £500K he could be ideal cover for Gunnar or Ralls.
Max Power? Won't he be expensive to run especially bearing in mind the electricity price increase announced by British Gas today? Or does he run with energy saving devices? Or a hybrid perhaps? Never heard of him but heres the wiki details: - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Power_(footballer) Has scored a few goals from midfield albeit in the lower divisions. A few long distance efforts.
For our younger readers, not you Sparkey. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Wall https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&r...nC06YU&usg=AFQjCNG03XJi4Xltgtl4o-RTa_h9BATTWw This made us laugh in the 70's.
