I just feel it is a mental thing at FP, plus playing in front of 15,000+ crowds might make these players tense at home. No such problems away.
That should be a play-off place secured if current form is maintained, Now to put the foot on the proverbial accelerator, something I am sure the team are capable of but have failed to deliver so far.
Someone at the match said Kal Naismith and Kyle Bennett were tormenting the Colchester players. Sounds like they've gelled and got an understanding going
We had 60% possession in the game, with 18 shots (10 on target). Colchester had 5 shots (none on target). The next two home games against Grimsby on Tuesday evening, and Stevenage who are 4th in the table, next Saturday are of paramount importance - must win games. Can't wait for Tuesday evening
What a difference a few positive results makes. You chaps have perked up somewhat from a few weeks ago. I don't know if this is coincidence or not but I mentioned a bit ago that Cook was rent a quote on the beeb football site for league 2. Everytime I logged in there to see what was going on he was there with a few pearls of wisdom. However, of late he has been absent from that and seems perhaps to be concentrating on his proper job of actually managing Portsmouth. Seems to be working.
Haha he's still rent a quote, but it's mostly kept to the Portsmouth News now. Nice victory, makes me feel a bit happier but I still wish we could play all our games away. Unfortunately we're at home next so we've gotta follow it up. It feels like there's two different sides, us away and us at home. If we could play at home like we do away, we'd be sorted. Still, if our home form picks up, I might even go to a game over Easter when I'm back down south briefly, if we're at home any time! Drag my gf to her first Portsmouth game, haha. At the same time, Farnborough sit comfortably in second in their league. Unfortunately there's only one auto promotion place and it seems like Royston have that pretty much settled (an insanely consistent team they are) BUT wouldn't it be great if Farnborough and Portsmouth both got promoted in the same season! Though Farnborough would need to break the Hampshire play-off curse. But hey, a Hampshire team has to get promoted through the play-offs eventually, right?
Note to the management: For all Pompey's remaining home fixtures: 1. Travel to the town of the visitors on Thursday and stay overnight. 2. Travel back to Portsmouth on Friday. 3. Stay in a hotel in Portsmouth on Friday night. 4. Travel in team coach to Fratton Park on Saturday. 5. Use the AWAY dressing room 6. Win game and get three points!
The match to choose Lapras, will be the home game against Plymouth on Good Friday - should be a cracker
Mmmm... A sell-out away end, should be a good atmosphere and would be an interesting induction into Portsmouth for my gf. On the other hand, I have seen Plymouth twice, would be nice to see one of the other teams I haven't seen yet. Then again, I'm not entirely sure what teams I have seen and what teams I haven't in League 2.
I managed to avoid visiting Pompey for 14 years whilst serving Nelson so bugger that I'm not breaking the tradition now. It's on the tele and all that will cost me is a couple of beers. Apart from that avoiding a fight with SB3 would be hard going....
