Newcastle United have put Jack Colback up for sale, even though he made 34 appearances this season.

According to a report in the Chronicle, Rafael Benitez has put Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback up for sale.

However, Benitez has decided to be ruthless with his squad - with a number of players set to depart.

Newcastle could offload a whole host of their squad, who Benitez has deemed could struggle in the Premier League.
And Colback has reportedly been made available, after failing to convince the Spanish boss.

Colback is yet to fully win over the supporters at St. James’ Park, after a series of middling performances.
Colback has added steel to Newcastle’s midfield, but there are question marks over his ability in possession.
And with Newcastle likely to strengthen in midfield over the summer, Colback’s position in the team is now under threat.

I've been a firm critic of Colback, but almost all his **** performances this year were when he was playing defensive midfield/holding midfielder, which he is clearly dogshit at.

Once Hayden came back and Colback could play the more attacking role, there was a massive uplift in his performances and those of the overall team.

But yeah, there's gotta be better out there than him, and if Rafa is gonna live up to his ruthless nature, then Colback will be a casualty regardless of whether he "bleeds black and white" or whatever.

He did a job for us at the lower level, but even then he didn't exactly set the world alight. Always looked much much better with Hayden in the team.

Time to go and I'm sure in the right set up, he can do a good job for someone else. If a club is struggling for finances and has seen a load of players exit, he could be just the man...

There will certainly be offers for him. Two years left on his contract - probably will fetch about £4m. Championship his most likely destination.

Sell Jack for what we can get and bring in Delph! 12m being touted today so if we could get 5m for Jack a 7m net spend for Delph would be worth it!

    5M what? Peanuts.

I sincerely hope you're right but am struggling to think who would buy him at that price...or indeed any price. I'm not a fan of his but that's only because I've watched him play...or not play.

You watch mate. There will be Championship clubs falling all over themselves to take him. Right age, EPL experience, thought of as a grafter, helped get us promoted.

If we are looking at young french CB's for 7-9m Jack has to be worth 5m, as the general says English premium should bump it up a little but agree I'd not buy him for £5 but there are chairmen like Levy out there who wouldn't know a bad deal if it touched their prostate.
