http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/15312699.LAWRIE_MAC__Puel_deserves_to_be_given_more_time/ Lawrie thinks he should stay. Some interesting points but a little odd that he (and others) say everton have now made it an elite top 7 after finishing 7th once. I can't help but feel this is the start of some sort of scheme by the club to get supporters on board with the concept of giving Puel more time.
I'd be shocked if he remains, for the opposing reason: we told our pet journo about our shortlist if Puel was to be fired. You don't* do that if you're planning to keep him. *Leaving aside the truly incompetent teams, and we aren't that.
Cheers. Although it doesn't actually reveal any names on the shortlist, just that Silva isn't one of them.
Not encouraging for Puel, but talk of a shortlist doesn't necessarily mean anything imminent. Saints have always held lists of successors....Koeman remarked jokingly that there was a list in Les Reed's desk drawer.
Jeremy WIlson is the journalist we use for everything we want in the public sphere but cannot directly attribute to our board. You're effectively suggesting that he did something that would guarantee he'd go from being the journalist with the most access to our actions to one who'd be blacklisted. It's mad.
He may have been told stuff that he can't print yet, but all this article says is that a decision hasn't been made about Puel (admittedly not sounding good for Claude) and that Silva isn't on our list now (could mean there is a list and he isn't on it...or no list has been prepared so that he can't be on it). Unless you get a direct quote, you can't know how it was phrased. Sounds like he phoned his contact and was given minimal information. Whatever...this should be resolved either way quickly. Not fair on Puel otherwise.
I don't think he's going to get blacklisted for making **** up, so long as the **** he makes up doesn't reflect badly on the club. Nor do I interpret someone at Saints feeding Jeremy Wilson the odd snippet, as evidence of him being our pet stooge in the press. That's a nonsense imo. In any case, I doubt very much that he views his entire career as being dependent on the odd bit of info he gets from Saints. Anymore than I believe our press office strategy consists entirely of offering favourable status to the bloke from the Telegraph.
Seriously, Saints don't feed Wilson the odd snippet. He's our chosen mouthpiece. This is and should have been obvious for years now.
Clubs have "chosen mouthpieces" in the press? Really? Would Jeremy Wilson put that on his CV then? Sounds most unlikely, but then it wouldn't be obvious to me because I've never read the Telegraph.
