Seems unlikely (unless they've just picked a specific season when Bruce spent loads and Colin spent nowt), at Cardiff he spent over £7m last season and he's spent £2m so far this window (about to become £3m when they sign Bogle). He certainly finds some gems though, £3.5m for Zohore last summer looks to be a great buy.
Agree but surely we have brought enough in and cannot afford to weaken the team anymore, if freebies or lower priced players are still about then yes get them if they are good enough but there is only so many of them. Its no point bringing more money in if we don't reinvest in an equal replacement or would the money be used better elsewhere. The problem is today's market is how much transfers have gone up so I suppose you have to be so careful at what price you let someone go for.
Colin on our bid - “If Zohore goes anywhere from Cardiff – and we certainly don’t want that to happen – then it will be to one of the top ten clubs in the Premier League and nowhere else,” said the 67-year-old when speaking exclusively last night. “And it will be for a lot more than £10m as well.” http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spor...-look-to-soften-abel-hernandez-blow-1-8706740
Prices are getting ridiculous but if some clubs are prepared to pay what can you do, you either hope you can find some great bargains or take a gamble and pay these massive fees and hope it takes you up. When you end up paying 10,15,20 million for a player what's his wage demands and then you pray he dosn't get injured.
What have we made off Bruce's signings though. Thing with Colin is he gets the most out of average players. Do many go on to bigger things?
Yet it could also mean a pound on a striker, four pence ha’penny on a left back and three ha’pence on a winger.
Hi mate, Colin has spent about £5m this season, a few freebies, Lee Tomlin for £3m, Danny Ward for £1.5m and Paterson for about £500,000. Last season he didnt spend a thing, he came here in October and picked up Sol Bamba, Keiron Richardson, Junior Hoilett and Maroane Chamakh straight away all on free transfers. In January he signed Ibrahim Meite from non leage on a free transfer, Alan McGregor on loan & Greg Halford for next to nothing (hopefully he goes soon). Zohore was actually a Russell Slade signing, he came to us on loan and did bugger all and was signed in the summer by Paul Trollope... It was however, Warnock who utilised him correctly and instilled the confidence in him to become a decent striker.
You'd think he'd been here years with the changes he's made for the better. Love him or hate him, he's a footballing man through and through.
Weird that Zohore is valued at more than Assombalonga, given one is a proven Championship goal scorer and the other has barely been here in comparison. Bristol City have signed a French striker and he didn't cost nearly as much and looks the part. If we get 20m for Clucas, I'd spend 15m of it on Griffiths at Celtic.
The prices quoted for Zohore are totally hatstand. Let's not be the team with their face pressed against the window glass (leaving chocolate stain imprints behind), or bending the knee to Warnock in anyway. Let's just be steadfast - take it or leave it. Further, I’d assume Slutsky has a knowledge of European markets to find a two or three quality players for that sort of outlay. Warnock’s a great manager for this level due to his organisation, player knowledge and pragmatism – but as pointed out by others, doesn’t offer much long term, players or club, and never has. He’d probably do well here too, but after a defeat or two, or not playing the Hull City way he’d be hated, despite any achievement, as per Phil Brown and Steve Bruce are.
I am surprised we haven't gone in for any European Slutsky known players. There must be a reason whether it been he dosn't think he can attract them to the championship or does he think there is better players here or will they cost to much. I don't know but there must be a reason.
It is puzzling. Maybe he's not got any (or very little) say in signings. Of all we've made so far, you'd maybe attribute Mazuch to him (and that's only cos he's East Euro - I might be way off) - but who else? Does he even decide the Chelsea loans?
equally, 20m could more likely mean more money in the Allam's pockets and a second rate striker for a lot less....
