Albert I can think of at least 130 companies if might be. You should stick £10 on each. Some good odds going out there.
This just released by the chronicle Newcastle United are on the brink of announcing their new sponsors. The Chronicle understands that the Magpies have agreed a deal with a Chinese company who will have their name emblazoned across the club’s new kit next season. It is believed that the Chinese investors are an online betting firm and have agreed a big money deal with Newcastle. Details of the length of the contract and value of the deal will be unveiled by United in the next week. Newcastle successfully negotiated the deal to replace current sponsors Wonga in the last month. A first glimpse at Newcastle United's new kit with commemorative crest to mark 125 year anniversary The new sponsorship deal comes on the back of a successful business trip arranged by managing director Lee Charnley and the club’s commercial team. The trip, which we reported on March 28, also involved talk of a summer tour in China but that is unlikely to be this summer as United were unable to confirm dates after becoming embroiled in a fierce promotion race. The new sponsors also won’t see any renaming issues crop up again at St James’ Park. Newcastle’s kit sponsor will continue to be Puma. United have been putting the final touches to the club’s new shirt which will be released soon complete with the new sponsor.
Bodog seems to be Canadian. Dafa from Philippines. 188 based in Isle of Man. 138.com based in Isle of Man. I guess the latter two may be Chinese owned but registered in IOM?
Is it definitely going to be a betting company. I just thought it said Chinese company. Could it not be a massive car company or something.
You'd think that that would be a good reason to advertise here. You wonder, though, if the cost of sponsorship pays for itself in the Chinese market alone. It's much smaller levels of money involved, but watching the snooker last week, you see players and tournament signage with Chinese sponsorship all over it.
Huawei are already heavily into football sponsorship: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huawei#Sponsorship
I don't care who it is as long as it provides the club with plenty of cash. I don't buy the latest kits anyway based purely on the quality of the shirt. Much prefer the retro shirts.
