Happy with that result. I think we again set out not to lose rather than to win, and it almost backfired. First half City attacked relentlessly down the super highway that was our midfield. No need for diversions just straight down the middle, no problems. That's why Matic was brought on and that worked. Now they had to go wider, and suddenly we were in it a bit more.
Resilient is how I'd describe that win, and if that's what we set out to do, we were successful. Hazard and Luiz our best for mine, Pedro honourable mention. Kante poor by his standards, Costa beyond hopeless, Fabregas over run from the off. The rest all perfectly good. Moses is badly missed, and Zouma just needs to play more, he did OK. Very good win, though the pressure was there for all to feel.

agreed. Rather Zouma in the CM/DM rather than Cescy or Matic.

Luiz was impeccable today. Had Aguero in his pocket all day.
We miss Moses so much and need his ASAP!

Thought Fab played well in the deeper role he always looks forward and that’s the beauty of his play. He pushed forward a little bit more in the second half behind Diego Costa but they didn’t really give him the ball. I like him in that deeper role he goes from defence to attack so quickly with his passing ability.

But on the whole a very good performance and Conte again proving his tactical awareness with the half time substitution. It wasn't sexy but it was more than adequate. Luiz was immense as was Pedro.

Last two games have highlighted Moses as a Complete WB and that Azpicueata is our only real alternative in that position. I think a plan would be to have those two fight for that role and have Christiansen back too fight with Zouma, Luis and Cahill for the centre roles.
Do we think Baba Rahman would suit Chelsea now we play with a left WB?

Azpi being able to play on both sides should be good competition for Moses and Alonso.
Looking forward to getting Christiansen back, hopefully will get game time with Zouma
    next season.

    why did we sabotage Ake's.
He could be a huge upgrade over Alonso now.

Poor from City and Pep in this game, they were having some joy getting through the middle with just Kante in there, Conte adds Matic and City continue to try and play through the middle. They had to adjust to your tactical change and simply didn't, Pep is struggling to come to terms with this league.

That's how I saw it as well. Matic coming on stopped the midfield route and forced them wider. Game over.

Ake should definitely be given a fair run out, I always thought he was a great talent and I can't remember when he ever let us down.

Lewis baker. Marco Van Ginkle and Tammy Abraham all seem ready to play in the Prem if you ask me. Those specialist roles though are the ones that may need buying. We seem to have a million young strikers, goalkeepers and central midfielders (mason mount et al) coming through, only one or two defenders and wingers/inside forwards or wingbacks. Whether this is a Lampard/Drogba legacy or that kids only want to play the glory roles, I don't know. British kids don't want to defend it seems. I played at Left back when I couldn't of played anywhere, including goal, and did and was good everywhere (not so much dead centre of pitch but good enough) because no one else would. I had to develop my left paw, indeed rewire those neural pathways that lead to do such. It is like Roy Castle always said............dedication.

We have that Andreas Christensen over on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach, I hear he is coming along nicely.

Good stuff, he was voted Monchengladbachs player of the year last season.
So he looks like a shrewd investment.
