Well done lads, already won the league too http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...-watches-starlets-beat-man-city-a3524811.html
Will any of them become first team regulars? Your last youth player to become a first team regular is about to leave the club because he's too old to be considered for selection!
I think it's a Roman issue. Mourinho got the blame but he hasn't been afraid to play Rashford, even when he wasn't scoring.
Tend to agree, Abramovich has always liked being in the glow of megastars and has spent hundreds of millions to do just that. Guess it's the same brain synapsis that makes people want 2 huge boats and not just one, monster houses everywhere, private jets, yet cruise around in Jeans trying to look "normal". Beats me, but good luck to him. It does mean though that the kids get sold off and moved on like the chattels they are to the Club, and occasionally bought back at huge cost when they have "made it". Can't see that changing , it seems to be in every Russian oligarchs' DNA, flash is best.
Mmm....Rashford had already broken through at United and got into the England set up by time Jose came along. Even then Jose went out and got a 35 year old from abroad to play upfront rather than trust Rashford - who has largely been limited to cameos or appearances from out wide this season. Albeit it has improved of late but then Ibra is injured. He'd have probably played even less had the likes of Rooney and Mikatyrian performed better in the league. Jose has a big aversion to trusting youth but it can't all be placed at his door. We have an owner who demands pretty much instant success so managers are afraid to try youth; especially when we have the resources to buy the finished article. That said, its ridiculous how good our youth teams are yet none of them really get near the first team. Terry probably wouldn't get a chance if he was 15 years younger and coming through in this era.
^^^^^^^^^^^ Yup. that's it in a nutshell. Happy with Conte but always nervous with Jose'. Given the resources there are quite a few coaches that could have achieved what he did. maybe even more if he gave the youth a chance..
Haven't seen any of the youth team at all this year. I know a lot of them are eligible to play next season as they were playing a year above their age group though. Anybody stand out?
To be honest Gareth all of them look like being first teamers pretty soon but as you know not all of them can bring their talents up a level. 1 Jamie Cumming, 2 Reece James, 3 Trevoh Chalobah, 4 Marc Guehi; 5 Juan Castillo, 6 Tariq Uwakwe, 7 Dujon Sterling, 8 Jacob Maddox, 9 Ike Ugbo, 10 Mason Mount, 11 Callum Hudson Odoi Substitutes: Martell Taylor-Crossdale for Ugbo 77, George McEachran for Uwakwe 80, Cole Dasilva for Hudson Odoi 83 This was the team that played in the FA Youth cup final a week ago. Stand outs for me over both legs were Maddox, Mount, Odoi, Sterling, and Guehi. Fully expect Maddox and Mount to make it just by how comfortable they are on and around the ball.
