A poor game played out by two poor sides in a ground that was 80% empty. Vale played the better of what football that was on show, but were the most toothless and powder puff side we have faced this season We toiled in our usual mundane fashion. Magennis scored with a looping header after a cross from the left (shades of Fleetwood away ..) & Ajose scored the second on the break The attendance was truly pitiful, 7000 at most.
we were crap, but better than russell slade crap. we started 2 up top at home for once. our center midfield is shocking. no composure, lots of bad decision making. attendance was less than 7000. i find it hard to enjoy wins now. biggest goal is to get rid of the owner.
Bloody awful turgid display once again the type that wpuld have had slade gushing and claiming brilliance two bang average sides cancelling each other out and it waa cold we sat back and were soooo deep second half it waa embarrassing acting lime we were playing man u and protecting a lead not bleeding port vale ffs
I wasn't impressed with either of our subs today - Botaka did nothing after coming on for Jackson Hanlon looks a mile away from bring ready -slow and cumbersome and comically mistimed one of his runs in the second half. Reminded me a bit of Joe Pigott, only worse
That ground is emptier than my ex's promises. Was it a good game nonetheless? Maple Leafs were good @baraettmattesvensson, but all these North American sports I saw, New England Patriots, Harvard Uni, Boston Celtics and Maple Leafs, the crowd lack so much passion we have in our sports. They need to do gimmicks such as shooting t-shirts out of cannons, hot women parading around (my favourite), music, jumbotron kiss-cam, and a host more. Still no atmosphere.
Good and bad I suppose. Magennis is the sort of signing that can change a season (if other things are a little better organised) and it sounded as if we deserved the win. The ground is empyting and the atmousphere is only good if you ask Sue Perks and friends. With a decent manager and a couple of decent signings in january we could still do something this season. Sadly this regime have an ability to damage anything they touch so not too much to be confident about.
Magennis one of the consistent bright spots - probably good enough to play in the Championship, and gives 100% in every game. Bustles up the opposition even when he is not scoring. Ajose and Novak could learn a lot from him. I know it was only a cameo on Saturday, but I was surprised at how poor Hanlon was, nowhere near ready for first team action. Shades of Karlan Ahern-Grant.
Are we in a position to go up? Honest question, but our scouting network is virtually non existent again, the coaching team not much better and should it be Karl Robinson - a manager who's had 1 season in the league and got relegated. Ok, perhaps a bit harsh on Robinson, but the above coupled with Meire is a recipe for disaster.
