I know that Rick Everitt is not liked on this Forum but this article shows what a cock up the owners have made with signings. We are still paying the price. http://www.votvonline.com/
This should be compulsory reading for any manager considering the Charlton job. It shows that it's not how much, it's how the money's been spent. In the hands of a Curbs, a Lennie or a SCP that sort of money would have us challenging for the play-offs in the championship. And as Dickp says, we're still paying the price, and he won't be spending anywhere near that sort of money again.
I think that a new owner should just tell Roland I'll pay £16million, but you can keep Vetokele, Watt, Cabellos, Kashi and Sarr, just knock it off the price of the club, and we'll call it quits.
It looks like Robinson wants to sign ex Chesterfield attacking midfielder Jay O'Shea (multiple sources) The 29 year old was recently released by the Spirites and had an unsuccessful loan at Sheff Utd. Just the standard of player we should be looking at. () Between 2011-2013 O'Shea played for MK Dons. Not sure who his manager was.
It's not so much that Everitt is disliked, more that he is a serial manipulator and bullsh1tter. A few weeks ago he Tweeted a photo of smoking chimneys - what happened to his Aussie takeover? He has gone very quiet on that.
17 May update; Roger Johnson, Dimitar Mitov, Terell Thomas and Chris Millar announced as leaving the Club - from the official website.
Thought Mitov was a good prospect. Thomas looked good when playing alongside Gomez. Our Academy has had a good spell of producing young professionals of a good standard, but that phase seems to be coming to an end, and we've got nothing to show for it.
We still have a number of good players in the U23s like Djikisteel, Lapslie, Bowry. In the U18s Terrique Anderson is an excellent prospect. As is Timmy Abrahams but unfortunately Fulham have nicked him.
I would have expected Lapslie to he featured by now if he was going to get a chance, especially with our one-man midfield. Has Anderson added any inches to his height since I saw him at 16? (He was very talented then)
Tables updated 9th June; Stats added for the signing of Billy Clarke - the first addition to our senior squad this summer.
Tables updated 16th June; Stats added for the signing of Mark Marshall - Bradford's POTY last season and definitely a decent signing in my book, but I'm worried he may only be a replacement for Ricky Holmes. If I am wrong and Holmes is staying, then our squad is now properly stronger and this is a positive step. If Holmes leaves, then Marshall might be able to do a comparable job, but our squad will probably be no stronger for it.
Worth noting the OS mentioning that Kashi will be hooking up with the club at the training camp in Ireland. Whether he returns at the same standard is another question.
To return to the same standard would be an amazing achievement, but they've got to give him a go; he was decent after all. And they've coughed up a fortune in wages.
Tables updated 19th June; Charlton's third signing of the summer - Tariqe Fosu (21) attacking midfielder / left winger from Reading. Two year contract, undisclosed fee. Don't know much about this young player. Will be interesting to see how he fits in to the eventual shape of our 2017-18 squad...
Bradford fans speak highly of Marshall don't rate Clarke at all the latest recruit is young had a decent spell at Col u last season hopefully he can step up at least we are making signings. Pearce signing a contract extension is great news.
3 years too late to be handing out contract extensions to decent defenders. pearce is a poor mans michael morrison.
saying that, now he's doubled his money and on a long contract, the nobs will probably loan him to rolands fc haagen dazs
