    Transfer Window Closed

    Last Update: 1st September

    Here are two versions of our squad lists, to help members to keep track of changes to our squad during this summer, and have a quick reference point if they need one.
    The first squad list shows players by position, the list below it shows the same information, but sorted by squad number.
    Please let me know if you think any of the data is not correct and I'll change it as required.

    I will always try to keep these tables updated, hopefully making changes within 24 hours at most as things develop.

    On the squad lists;
    The left hand side (titled in blue) shows our squad as it stands now at the end of the 2016-17 season.
    The right hand side (titled in purple) shows the changes once they have been confirmed on the official website. So by the end of the transfer window the right hand side of the lists will show our completed squad for the 2017-18 season.

    TABLE 1: Squad listed by position

    Yellow background - player who has left the Club during the transfer window.

    Not sorry to see Chicksen leave.

    I saw just about all of his appearances for us last season - he is not as good in that position as any of Solly, Byrne, Da Silva or even Fox. He is better than Lewis Page however.

    You are never going to get promoted out of League One with 11 players of the standard of Chicksen. The bottom line as always with this mob is what comes next. Being linked with a free transfer from Swindon Town (Thompson?) is not promising. A team with promotion ambitions should be recruiting out of the Championship, not raiding the larder of teams who have just exited League 1 with their arses hanging out.

    Have to agree, for a club chasing promotion Chicksen would be 3rd choice. Thought he was a poor all round player who did a couple of good things.

    My first reaction was disappointment when I heard that Chicksen was leaving; I had thought he was one of our better players this season.
    However, an analysis of win percentages for our squad last season suggests otherwise;

    This table does not tell the whole story of course, there are many factors not included.
    But it seems to bear out your perceptions of his influence rather than my earlier impression of him.

    His defeat percentage is fairly low, but not as low as those of Dasilva, Pearce, Fox, Foley or Chris Solly.

    If we were starting off in the Championship in August, and had to play Middlesboro away on the opening day, how many of the current squad are capable of holding their own up there ? Realistically - 2 or 3 - Pearce, Holmes and Magennis - with caveats about 3 others - Phillips (inexperienced), Solly (injuries) and Konsa (inexperience).

    That should be the test for player recruitment this summer, "we all dream of a team of Ricky Holmes" precisely because he is a player good enough for the next level.

    In a squad already denuded of quality, the last thing we should be doing is signing 3-5 players from raggedy-arsed MK Dons.

    Out of the loan players who will return only Igor, if he's fit, looks like a positive addition. Umerah hasn't even featured in the Killie squad, no idea how the other youngsters have done, although Charles-Cook always looked a good prospect. Ajose will get another chance, but Sarr and Ceballos?????????????????????????????????????????

    Ceballos scored two and set up two yesterday. Allegedly he is very happy there, so I imagine he will stay.

    Naby Sarr is busy getting himself relegated for a second straight season with Red Star.
    If we bring him back, we might as well give Karel Fraeye another chance.

    If Karl Robinson has anything to do with Sarr, Ceballos, or Teixeira for that matter next season that's as good as proof that he isn't calling the shots.

    Lardi, I have a feeling that the wages we are paying those three will mean that we are stuck with them until their contracts run out a bit like Roger 'well don't fvcking come next week' Johnson

    I remember we had a Lisbon fan pop up on here when we signed Sarr and warned us how awful he was - more alarmingly that their fans were not only surprised they received a fee, but such a large one.

    We're stuck with him. Any clubs with the incompetence of our SMT don't have an owner with the cheque book of RD.

    I remember that, they fell about laughing that they had managed not only to get rid of a useless player, but receive 2.5m euros into the bargain. Thomas Driesen's finest hour.
