The comedy defending rolls onto league leaders Charlton, a toughish match for the non too at the moment mighty whites. Keeper Turner is injured again, young forward Procter had his operation on Tuesday, will Mellor and Hume be fit is anybodies guess. Expect nothing won't be disappointed Paul Hayes will score.
You might do better with a team of 6'6" bruisers, as we have dropped points at home to the likes of Sheffield Wed and Tranmere and lost away to Stevenage. But I don't think that has ever been the Preston way. Certainly you footballed us off the park in the League Cup here but we had a complete team of reserves and I think yours were mostly reserves too? Don't bring Mayor. He destroyed us almost single-handed in that match. Whatever, I am looking forward to a real football match, not a pub brawl, and hopefully a few goals. May the best team win so long as it's Charlton.
Got to agree too. Looking forward to this match. We've (Charlton) been playing well, but we've only really been tested twice by Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United. Tranmere match was a shambles, where they (Tranmere) was more interested in injuring and brawling on the pitch rather than playing football, and Stevenage was just us on a bad day. Another one of the bigger teams this week, and in 2 weeks Huddersfield. These are the tough games, which if we want to be serious Title Contenders we need to win them.
Neil Mellor is a quality striker at this level. He and Hume are Imo as good as any other forward partnership in this league. Why did you boys ship Mellor out on Loan to Sheffield Wednesday last year? I would've thought he could've done a job for you in the battle against relegation.
Ferguson Jnr didn't rate him also needed to get his wage off the wage bill, he's one of the highest earners in the club. Been a revelation this season, physical looks fitter and works his socks off, got crocked at Walsall though. Eddie F Mayor will play Enjoy the game
I'm down for this one, as my planned trip to see the Huddersfield game has had to be called off -thanks Sky - chance to see my folks a couple of weeks early, though. Just a pity IMO that we couldn't have played earlier on in the season, as I think the game would have been more of a spectacle. Bad runs don't go on for ever, but I'm confident of a win tomorrow. MacLad, Plumber - are you going to be able to make it?
Tewkesbury No I'm not going doubt whether Plumber will either he's not a spring chicken I believe he's in his 70's, long way to go might have gone 20 or so years ago but I'm getting lazy these days only localish away trips
Love it! I'll be hitting a large birthday next year and have got to weigh up the exhilaration of finally getting in at half-price against the fact that half way during the journey, I won't be able to remember which ground I'm travelling to...
As you get older it's easier to say sod it, thought about going to Yeovil then you realise it's a 11 hour round trip stood on an open terrace in the rain and then you use what little common sense you've got left and think nah I'll go one day not in January
Very wise, I'd say, having damned near drowned on the terraces at Yeovil two seasons ago - my mobile phone took two days to dry out in the airing cupboard! There's a reason why there's a wind turbine at the back of that terrace...
I guess this is the match thread. Charlton: Hamer; Solly, Wiggins, Taylor, Morrison; Green, Hollands, Hughes, Jackson; Kermorgant, Wright-Phillips Subs: Sullivan, Cort, Wagstaff, Euell, Hayes Still no Stephens, not even on the bench.
Sorry we couldn't give you a game. Well with no defence, midfield we managed to hold them to 5, not surprised having seen the side before hand. Did win the 2nd half 2-1 though. The 3 alleged traing ground miscreants didn't play and without Hume, Mellor and Procter or chances of getting something from the match were less than Greece paying off its debts. JPT on Tuesday and even Rochdale look to good for us at this point in time.
