I wonder if they'll do a BBC for their live races and have an hour of preamble and then end the show before the press conference.
I always thought that was a stupid way to do things. They only really need 15min before race maybe 30min at a push then have an hour after as that's when I want to see the post race analysis.
How else are you meant to overhype the Hamilton/Rosberg rivalry based on Instagram and twitter posts? You can't do that after a decent race in which they don't clash!
Channel 4 have a Guy Martin Speed special on right now, him on a Superbike vs Coulthard in the RB8, over a series of tests. Ok so far, but lots of buildup for little action. Also, the track looks dry and they're just about to do a drag race with the Red Bull clearly on wet tyres, so I suspect some dramatic license is being used to ensure tight competition.
I am taping it to watch later. Guy Martin is such a straight talking bloke, it's going to be fun him against DC just on conversation let alone on track.
Yeah, the conversations have been pretty good. Also, they're ****ting all over Raikkonen so far, without really trying to.
Without wanting to ruin it for Ched, they had a couple of clips early on, which could be summed up as "The start of an F1 race is really important, here's Vettel getting it right. And here's Raikkonen screwing it up". "Braking is important too, here's Kimi being beaten on the brakes by Rosberg".
Watched now. I enjoyed that. Was all done in a light hearted way. Tests were in no way equal, car on wets, same size slarlom, 3 laps vs 4, but good to watch. Always enjoy watching Guy, he is always so enthusiastic and happy. I didn't realise they used rear brake to keep front wheel down while accelerating. Also seemed like bike did not have slicks on! Amazing how F1 drivers just focus on driving while Guy (OK so not best racer but very good) has to work as mechanic between races. Good program not techinally great but good entertainment.
Can someone please explain channel 4's coverage, I must be stupid as I cannot fathom out their website!
Have they got free practice highlights anywhere? I went to the BBC site this morning through habit, expecting to find their 3 minute FP1 and 2 summary videos. Obviously that was stupid, but there's no mention as far as I can see on the C4 website of free practice even happening, never mind highlights.
Apperently channel 4 are launching a F1 page soon. I feel they may have missed the obvious deadline....
In previous seasons at the start Eddie has read out a poetic speech about racing and the upcoming season.
Will the Prancing Horse ride again?...The Silver Arrow cuts deep into it's competitors... etc and all that tripe.
I was going to say this was something they need to do. At the moment they're just a broadcaster and their website reflects that, but when you have a package like F1 you have to provide more than just coverage. Hopefully it will be a completely separately site because the current one is unfit to carry news, analysis and coverage all in one place.
