Squad numbers are a worry to me now We needed a deeper squad as we have CL next season, but more seem to be leaving than coming in. I'm praying that Tony C has things in hand.
Seems an odd one to me to let him go for £5m, a pittance in this stupid market, and buy Bakayoko for £40m. As you say, you can buy him back for £25m so it's all good.
To an extent yes. We may well end up looking silly if Chalobah has a great season. But Bakayoko has just won the French league and had a great season in france and in Europe. We are selling potential and buying the finished article. The P.L has got so competitive at the top now, 7 teams will be fighting for 4 places by the looks of things so i guess we feel we can't take chances. Better the kid go and get games rather than sit on our bench all year making 5-10 minute sub appearances once a fortnight. I think he only had a year left on his deal as well so would have lost him next year.
That's the position we're in as a club. We have an owner who doesn't tolerate not being in that group. Tony C plays it safe and who can blame him.
Very disappointed with this. I already think Chalobah has the talent and could have made it. This one is even more disappointing than Ake going.
Something is loopy with our thinking for sure. Chalobah for 5 mill is plain dumb whatever the buyback.Abramovich has clearly gone back on his claim to build instead of buy, and too many potentially great kids are not being given a chance to reach their potential. No doubt we wil get more great players in, but it is difficult to see good ones moved on.
Unless its £5m or £10m at a push. It really boggles the ****ing mind what these people are thinking. As if any talented kid is going to choose Chelsea now when given the choice to sign a professional contract. Hey, wanna play at Spurs or Southampton and try break in to the team and cement your place, or sign for Chelsea, get sent to Holland for a couple of years, then go on loan to a Championship Club so you can waste the first 4 years of your career when you should be developing, then get sold to a relegation zone club to live out your mediocre career in the mire Awesome.
It can't be easy with so many good kids on the books, but Ake and Bertrand were and are top class players, arguably better than the ones we bought to play in their positions. Chalobah was looking better and better every time he played and young Tammy should be in our 1st squad right now. In less than 1 season I believe he would become a sensation playing with our top squad behind him . I think we can kiss him goodbye soon as well.
yup Tammy will knock in 15 goals this season on loan and we will end up selling him for £25m to some mid table team, you watch
