Spoke to MP for Hessle and West Hull, Alan Johnson in the East Stand on Saturday, think he sits in E5. Nice bloke and obviously a fan. I'd sooner he was sought out for a quote about City matters by the media instead of running to John Prescott every time as though he is some sort of expert and big fan of Hull City when he clearly isn't.
Though you could always check the London press if you want his verdict on the team he actually supports... EXCLUSIVE! Alan Johnson delivers verdict on QPR after narrow Hull defeat http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/spor...clusive-alan-johnson-delivers-verdict-8698311
I've seen him in the East Stand before. I'm just finishing the third of his autobiographies, very interesting books. At the last election campaign my local MP saw my City cap, and stopped for a brief chat, his parting words regarding Allam were, "about time he ****ed off!" The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I also have been in E5 since Day 1 and never seen him but then again I do have Black n Amber tinted glasses on all of the time.
QPR fan or not he was at the KC watching Hull City which is more you can say for Prescott who always has something to say about us and he I've never seen him in the East Stand, KC or at Boothferry Park.
Much like myself then he seems to be a football fan, and willing to attend matches not involving his favoured team. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mind.
I saw Alan Johnson after the Sheff Weds Wembley game. I've also been told be an acquaintance of his that he watches City wherever and whenever he can but doesn't really make a big deal of it. Prescott on the other hand... He turns up when the cameras are there but that aside there's not much from him. His claims during the initial name change argument to have been an avid City fan since the 1950s are laughable. I've spoken to a few people who'd know of any involvement from him - or any local politician - during the dark days of the 1990s when we needed such support, and they tell me he was nowhere to be seen. I asked Radio Humberside to run a few fairly simple Hull City questions by Prescott when he was banging on about what a big City fan he was. They refused. Genuine City fans who are celebs are: Mark Herman (film writer/director), Mark Robinson (cricket coach), Roy North (DJ/TV presenter, Basil Brush companion), Robert Crampton (writer for The Times), Sir Tom Courtenay (actor - might not get there much at present but was regular for many years), Tommy Coyle (seems genuine fan). People who claim to be fans but I've no idea how deep it runs are: Sarah Beeney (seen her at the KC and think she attends regularly), Boothby Graffoe (quite good comedian who claims to support City on Twitter), Stephen Malkmus (lead singer of Pavement, not sure he's been to many games, mind), Sinitta (supported City because she was too scared to not do when she met Billy Whitehurst), Will Rhodes (Yorkshire cricketer and former England U19 captain who is apparently a big fan), Michelle Dewberry (everyone knows about her dad and she mentions her support of City on Twitter from time to time. Wouldn't call the support 'avid' though).
I recall Prescott at Brighton for a Friday night game...The two jags rolled into the car park with a police escort and blue lights flashing. Then he came onto the pitch side and waved a City scarf, ( given to him by a club staffer, minutes before) above his head and waved to the City fans...The City fans 'waved' back, quickly followed by a chant that seemed to suggest he worked in a bank..
I'd seek his opinion on pies, unnecessary car journeys, hypocrisy, marital affairs and mock tudor beams. That aside, he should be ignored.
