I prefer a captain to play through the "spine" of a team than out on the wing as its easier to communicate with the whole team.

He is vocal though and always looks up for it so we could do a lot worse than Ritchie.

Agree. He is the right 'type' for captain material but I also prefer an old school approach of a CB or tough DM type as captain.

If Ashley id serious about our future then ideally we'll buy someone who is a ready-made captain in the spine of the team. Although I won't hold my breath.

For the last number of weeks I haven't thought Lascelles should be in the team never mind captain of it.

Wouldn't get rid of him but definitely would "rest" him.

Agree. I think Mbemba and Clark are both better. Rafa has made life difficult for himself making Lascelles captain. He should be rested but Rafa probably feels he can't do had been keeping Mbemba on the sidelines until Clark got injured.

I'd quite like to see Clark as captain. I think he's good enough to be in the team next year, he's a good age for captaincy and usually performs very well when he is playing. I really like Ritchie and he is definitely our player of the season, but he can be ill-disciplined when things don't go his way - though he seemed to keep his head last night which is encouraging.

    Not a bad shout.
A captain should literally drag the team along with him through the tough times and Ritchie certainly does that. The bloke grafts his arse off and leads by example.

Once Rafa leaves in the summer we'll employ the type of brainless English bellend we usually do and he'll give the captaincy to jack colback !!!!!!

I doubt Lascelles will be good enough to start week in week out in the Premier League next season so I'd look at another captain but we'll have to have that conversation in a few months time when we actually know what the squad is going to look like.

That's true because watching the team last night they thought we already won it

I like a centre back to be captain so it will all depend what our defensive options are next year. At present you'd say neither Clark nor Lascelles really show the necessary leadership qualities. Mbemba probably has a poor grasp of the English language still.

This is a tricky one due to the above.

Ritchie is an obvious choice but some players might not react to well to being kicked to **** like a corner flag.

On a serious note, I don't think he is the best character for the caption role. Yes he oozes effort and is vocal but there is a time and a place to shout and sometimes to just whisper in ones ear (my personal favorite when I played, all warm and wet.... ahem.....) anyways....

We don't have a decent captain, Lascelles is not going to play next season if we are serious about staying up.

We need to buy buy buy and one of the players has to be captain material.

I would have said Shelvey but his mental state makes me think no.
