I don't care about their backgrounds - I care about performances on the pitch and quite frankly, they're both good in the air and that's about it.

All players make mistakes. It's about limiting them. He didn't make a lot of mistakes when Matip is alongside him.
Agreed but he makes a LOT of basic errors. And yes we did make mistakes with Matip - difference is that our attack was blitzing teams which masked our defensive inefficiencies.

You say it masks it but that's also treating everyone the same. The media may be blinded but decent minded fan won't be. I think most on here are capable of coming to their own conclusion so I don't think it was masked (on here) at all
