Cally is auctioning off his shirt from the Wrexham game where we clinched promotion to the old Div one. I know a number of us were there. He is raising money: "I'm attending this event on Sunday to raise money for Amy who is really ill and needs a life saving treatment for her cancer. I've been fortunate to have recovered from my Cancer, but Amy needs our help. So I have an original No.7 Watford shirt that I wore on the night we got promoted against Wrexham to the old 1st Division, all them years ago. There is no other shirt or replica about and I don't really want to lose it, BUT if I can sell this and raise some money for Amy it will be worth it. As you can see the shirt is in really good condition and has'nt been signed, but can be if you want me to sign it. Please feel free to make me some offers The bidding will finish on Saturday Many thanks" please log in to view this image please log in to view this image https://www.facebook.com/nigel.callaghan2?hc_ref=NEWSFEED Bid on his FB page
I was there, yet find it untrue that it was so long ago. That shirt clearly means quite a lot to him, so I hope it raises a mega amount. The first bid was for £300, so I doubt it will be coming this way.
I just wish I was nimble enough now to repeat the way I leaped the fence and danced in the centre circle...
Oh my goodness, that is so wonderful of him. He was a superstar then let alone now. I wish I could afford it. Bearing in mind what I reported my Dad (70+ years a Hornet and been going since the war) said about Deeney being our best ever captain, if I were to ask him who our best ever winger was, he would answer before I finished the question. "Best crosser of the ball to have ever worn the shirt!" is his stock phrase for Cally. We all know there's not a huge amount of room for debate there. Well, just try it with my Dad if you dare.
No - anyone who ever watched him play would know that Cally also had one football's hardest and most accurate shots. Only a fool would stand in the way when Supercallygoesballistic...
