With the Bury game on Thursday night in expect wholesale changes from Grayson with Norwich away on Saturday. Usually I'd be annoyed but I think it's a great opportunity for some youngsters and squad players to stake a claim. I'd like to see something like ----------------------Ruiter----------------------- Matthews--Oshea--Djilobodji--Robson ----------------Gibson--Embleton------------- ---------------------Rodwell------------------------ ------Asoro--------Maja-------Gooch-------- What kind of team do people see Grayson selecting?
Sunday. Not Saturday. Mathews. Gibson. O'0Shite and Rodwell. Its like a scene from a carry on movie..
Maja still has a knee injury. I think it will be pretty similar to what started against derby. Don't think it''s a good idea to make wholesale changes. We need a win and goals featuring starters for continuity and momentum, can't get that changing an entire line up. I think Ruiter Jones---O'shea---Browning---Galloway McGeady---Catts---Rodwell---Gooch Grabban------Vaughan or Ruiter Jones---O'shea---Browning---Galloway Catts---Rodwell Grabbon--------Honeyman-------McGeady Vaughan **** giving pisshead a start.
I think we're going to have to sign a RB because unless Matthews is mint on the sly we're going to need decent cover for Jones, who apart from not being very good is pretty injury prone I believe despite being ok so far for us.
I think Love needs chance to develop first personally. Nee point buying youngsters who are fringe level and not try and bring them on imo.
To be honest I'd forgotten about him so fair point. He's at least at Jones' level with the potential to be better. I'm a lot happier with Matthews as third choice than a possible heavily relied on second choice.
He's coming back to fitness now so gets a chance to feature and prove his worth. Hopefully Grayson gets the time before the window shuts to fully assess him. Been back in full training a few weeks now though.
Him and McNair both seem to have a decent brain on them and from what I've seen of the Championship recently that'll be a fairly rare thing. Have you heard anything about Watmore recently?
Yes there was news in the echo today as it happens, Making good progress as is McNair, though McNair had a set back a few month ago or he would have been back first. No dates yet
Do you think it's worth risking the Norwich game for playing so many players you'd expect to Thursday - Sunday? I think we need to wrap Catts in bubblewrap this year whenever we can. I'd maybe start Vaughan up top then instead of Maja hoping that that returning player to old club trick works. People like Rodwell Gooch Djilobodji etc are crying out for a game to see if they can stake a claim. I also feel Asoro deserves a game as he'll have a big point to prove with Maja impressing in pre season. This for me has come like a bonus game for Grayson. An opportunity to have a look at a few in a competitive game.
Only works when they don't play for Sunderland!! Defoe scored 1 goal against a previous club in his time for us (despite playing around 9 or 10 games - a penalty against Bournemouth!! He was always poor against his former employers I found
If it was December no, but start of the season with a nice international break coming at the end of this month. Well aye. It's business time. We can rest people for the next round. A win and developing momentum is number 1 for me. Screw Papy, he's had a preseason, he clearly hasn't impressed. I'm not saying unchanged line up by the way, there's changes in my own team. Just not the entire team. I think that would be a mistake.
