Brewers clash moved to Saturday 28th January …

    • QPR's home fixture against Burton moved to Saturday 28th January
    • Clash was originally scheduled for Tuesday 14th February
    • Lee Hoos explains late change
QPR’S home fixture against Burton Albion, previously scheduled for Tuesday 14th February, has been brought forward to Saturday 28th January at the request of both clubs.

Both Rangers and the Brewers were knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup at the third round stage, allowing this fixture change to take place.

The Sky Bet Championship match will kick-off at 3.00pm at Loftus Road.

QPR CEO, Lee Hoos, told www.qpr.co.uk: “We’ve managed to bring this fixture forward to a 3.00pm kick-off on a Saturday afternoon, which is something we’ve not had in recent months for one reason or another.

“Both clubs were keen to do this, so it made perfect sense to take advantage of the free slot in the fixture schedule.

“However, we apologise for the lateness of this change.

“We wanted to confirm this change sooner rather than later, but due to the fact that both Chelsea and Fulham were drawn at home in the FA Cup fourth round our hands were tied somewhat until those fixtures were confirmed. The club needed to wait until confirmation of the scheduling of their fixtures on Friday before getting both police and local authority permission to play on that date.

“The club will be working on gestures of goodwill for all supporters who have been inconvenienced by this late change, including Burton supporters, as well as those who are no longer able to attend this fixture as a result of this late change. A further announcement will be made in due course."

QPR Director of Football, Les Ferdinand, added: “From a playing standpoint, it’s always advisable to avoid fixture congestion, and this will free up a midweek later on in the season, increasing the players’ recovery time between games.”

Today is the 16th and the new fixture is in 12 days time on the 28th. 12 days notice isn't much for fans to rearrange what they may have had planned. I don't think such short notice is fair on fans. Just my opinion.

I'd guess the extra revenue from moving it will more than outweigh compensating those who have bought unflexible trains or now can't attend.

A good fixture change for once, all around. Good for us because it's a Saturday. Good for the team because they get a decent break between fixtures.

I'm very pleased with this one!

It's also very understandable that they couldn't announce it before.

A Saturday home match at 3.00pm!!!

What is so good about Saturday? Here in Norway, Sunday is the traditional football day, but TV has rearranged that here too, which also annoys many. I get it that for work and travel time the weekend fits best for the majority, but what does it matter so much if it's Saturday or Sunday?

Well, weekend is easier, as you say. But Saturday is better because Sunday is usually the day of rest for most, religious or not.

Me and the lad may venture into Loftus Rd for this one, just to see if things really are improving.
