The boss has given updates on Giroud, Coquelin and Ramsey, and this is what he had to say: on the team news for Burnley… Giroud will be out, he will not come back. I think Coquelin is looking much better than we expected, he had a test today but I still think he will be short for Sunday. on Coquelin’s recovery being much quicker than expected… Because his ligament was not damaged as we thought. He is keen to start again but we have to be cautious. We have plenty of games coming up but for us now we work in cycles of three, week by week we play three games, so we have done Chelsea, Basel and it’s now to show that we can finish well the week. on Aaron Ramsey’s injury… Aaron Ramsey is out of the Wales squad. He should be available after the international break.

For such a big and physical guy, Sam Vokes does fall to the ground very easily under the slightest bit of contact.
Promising. Starting to make more forays forward, but they do have a lot of men in their box defending. Can't envisage us getting an abundance of clear opportunities so when we do go forward, we absolutely have to be clinical.
That's frustrating. Vokes keeps backing into Mustafi and is winning free-kicks, despite Mustafi not actually fouling him. I guess someone needs to tell Mustafi to not get as tight to his man.
We know we are playing a team that will park the bus and we still insist on trying to walk it into the net.
Drab game. Burnley are hoofing it up to Vokes and haven't created much, if anything, at all. Whenever we look like we can counter or create an opening, our final ball has let us down. Ozil and Bellerin in particular haven't been good enough with their delivery and final passes. But it is annoying that we're not shooting from outside the box.
Energetic first 30 minutes with some half chances created, final ball just off at times. Burnley have defended really well, very disciplined, packing the box and keeping there shape. Use the width a bit better and take some shots from outside the area in the second half to mix it up and force the Burnley defenders to lose shape. Bellerin needs to look earlier for the runs of Walcott as he is getting into some good positions. Mustafi looks good and is having a real battle with Vokes. When Burnley press us high up the pitch we are finding it a little difficult to get it out, need some slightly better long balls from Cech in those situations. Burnley are parking the bus so we need to be patient and keep knocking on the door.
0-0. HT. That was as frustrating a half as I expected and we have provided no answers at all to break down Burnley's resilience. For all our dominance of the ball and possession stats, they actually had the best chance of the game. Our final ball has been terrible, passing has been off, we're not taking advantage of our with and we keep trying to be too intricate in their box, even though they are packing their entire defence and midfield (literally) in the penalty area. Ozil needs a bollocking or he needs to be subbed off because that was not good enough for a player of his calibre. His body language is terrible whenever we lose the ball, yet he has been one of the key culprits of it in that game. . Iwobi and Sanchez look like our main attacking threats. Bellerin's made some good runs forward, but his final ball has been crap. Overall, a dour half. Burnley have defended deep and in numbers, but we have no outlet to hold the ball up and win the aerial battles. Someone like Giroud would have been ideal to start in this game, but he's not even on the bench.
Don't be silly. He hasn't had 'a shocker'. He's been the only other player, along with Bellerin and Iwobi, who's looked like an attacking threat. Everyone else has been passing it backwards and sideways. Our defence has done okay, but we're not creating anything. Ozil has been much worse than Sanchez has.
Sanchez has been a little slow on the ball when receiving it which has given the Burnley players time to get a challenge in or force him to pass backwards. Ozil has been a little off too. Both need to get there head in the game.
