I'm helping a mate to organise a ‘Burn The Sun newspaper’ event in the Queens Gardens bowl, ahead of the Liverpool match on Feb 4th, as a statement about truth and honesty, and about rejecting an establishment that uses lies to divide us, typified by this vile rag that calls itself a newspaper. Two campaign groups from Liverpool are also involved – Justice For The 96, and Eclipse The Sun, so we should have a few Scousers in attendance and it represents a great opportunity to unite behind a common idea. The event will probably start around Noon and finish about 1.45/2.00pm, so people can then go to the game. There will be various speakers, live music, and – obviously - the ceremonial burning of the rag itself, and it would be great if we can get good numbers along. Watch this space for more news!
Somehow I think that paper is still the most popular one, which is completely bizarre and I don't know what it'll take for people to stop taking it seriously.
It's the house paper in my village pub. I take in the Guardian, Private Eye, MOJO, Uncut, or a book, so I've something to do if there's no-one in. But I did read their report on the match, in Sunday's...
Why pick on the Sun? I get the Liverpool's fans motivation, but none of the tabloids are honest, and the Daily Mail is just as bad in a lot of areas. Why not burn a pile of all of the ****ers?
I'm prepared to buy as many copies of the Sun as are required if it can be arranged for Kelvin McKenzie and Penis Morgan to be burnt on top of them.
Why ONLY the Sun was my question. It's like a vindication of the other rags, which when you consider the Mail prints just as many retractions/apologies, seems a little odd. They're all as bad as each other.
