Thanks, best wishes and good luck Alex. Honest player who always, always gave it everything. There's a lot to be said for that. And thanks for 'those' tackles.

Was thinking what to put here, but GLP's said it for me. Absolutely ****ing admirable player, and a good bloke too, by all accounts.

^^^^This^^^^ Used to love his full-on tackles, never let us down. Best of luck Junior wherever you end up.

Nothing really to add - I think many of us figured out Bruce Snr had a good relationship with Papa Allam

best tackler? sorry Alex but my vote goes to James Chester

Chezz did cross my mind. He's certainly the better player but when it comes to the question of who's the better tackler, I find it difficult to choose between the two.

Was just thinking about when SB played Alex in midfield, leaving Tom Cairney on the bench.

It's hard to think of a worser selection, but the blame for that lies squarely on his Dads shoulders.

I've always wondered if Junior thought to himself, WTF Dad?

Best tackler when sliding in possibly, fortunately Chester read the game so well that he rarely had to go off his feet.

Do you mean when we played burnley away and some right ****s on here we're whining away about Alex. Then at half time don goodman praised the job Alex had done and how much he'd snuffed out. Completely stifled them. Job done he went off Quinn notched the winner.
One of my favorite threads that.

    I couldn't give a flying **** what "don goodman" :emoticon-0136-giggl said.

I'm only saying Steve chose his lad over a very talented midfielder.

    You disagree?

Great servant to the club and I wish him well.

I know people who insisted he was our best centre back above Harry, Curtis and Dawson.

He often seemed to get injured but I think that's what happens when you put your body on the line which he always did

Any other surname and he would have had songs and banners.

He reminded me of Ash in a lot of ways. Not the most gifted but always the most committed when on the pitch.

I'm a big TC fan and was gutted he left but a cold night match in march away at burnley and we'd just been outmuscled by Bolton the game before... Alex every time.
Even tom has gone on record saying he needed the kick up the arse of leaving to get his career going again.

Tom needed the move because he wasn't in our first 11 and he so should have been.

If we didn't have Huddleston I'd still be furious we sold Cairney, but I'm happy with how things turned out in that respect.

He got injured preseason. We bought Quincy and had koren already. You wouldn't play all three of them together.

**** me Chazz, you seriously claiming that playing Bruce in midfield was a good idea?

    Jesus ****ing wept.

He's a brave and committed player, but he's ****ing terrible with the ball at his feet.

Gave his all whenever he played.
Good to see when we dominated and beat Salford in the League Cup he didn't allow the **** side of the family P Neville have his own way either when discussing the game.
