Bristol City hot prospect Shawn McCoulsky proves his appetite for next season after 31-goal haul last campaign Young striker likely to feature in pre-season as he bids for first-team football Upcoming striker Shawn McCoulsky, nicknamed 'McGoalsky' by the Robins squad, can't wait for pre-season training to begin as the side from BS3 begin playing friendly matches. City will play Torquay on Wednesday July 12 and then Yeovil Town on Sat 15 July as the club begin their build-up to the new Championship season. Lee Johnson explained following the final Championship game of the season against Birmingham that the Robins will give first-team chances to several young players. And McCoulsky revealed on Twitter that he is raring to go. The exciting Robins' prospect - who hit 16 goals in 26 games at National League South level - showed off his skills with a showreel of cool finishes from last season. The starlet was then advised to be ready for the next campaign by City legend and head of youth loans Brian Tinnion. The 20-year-old striker is highly rated at City and likely to be given some first-team minutes this coming season. Meanwhile, Zak Vyner has been name-checked by chief operating officer Mark Ashton when giving an update to City's summer transfer plans. The London-born right-back could find himself starting the season in the first team if things go his way in pre-season, following the release of Mark Little. "Next season Zak Vyner's going to get game time," explained Ashton when explaining how the club wished to create a path for young talent to make it into the senior side. Tayler Moore, likewise, could be given the opportunity to win a first-team place with the battle to claim the right-back position for this season about to begin. The former Lens defender impressed while playing there for League One side Bury last term. City could sign a further defender this summer, however.
massive massive step up,just shows how ambitious city are hoping these youngsters will come through and do the business. There is a famous saying you gets what you pays for. pay peanuts you get monkeys.
That's just not true is it I hope we give Taylor Moore a chance at RB this pre season. It's why we spent big money on him, give the lad a crack!
Talking of hot - back in the Costa Del Sol looking forward to the cup final !!! House hunting for my retirement too!
Strikers can invariably score goals at any level. providing they are natural goal finishers and have the athletic ability for the division! Play him, be patient with him and hope he takes the chance!
I have always felt goalscorers will score goals. The first player that I observed doing this in lower leagues and carrying that on was Kerry Dixon. I have seen it several times since. sherringham and Ian Wright. Tammy proved this theory too. The only slight concern I have regarding McCoulsky was his time at Torquay, a club that were very close to playing their football at Bath and Weston's level next season and where he struggled to get a game. I think he should be in the first team squad but also that it would be dangerous to rely on him as being the main provider of goals for us.
the big danger is often a player with a "better footballing" brain will struggle in a team of lesser mortals.... we had 4 prospects out on loan 1 at Plymouth 1 at Torquay 1 at Bury and 1 at Wrexham that are for the future...we had others in lesser placings is that 4 plus Engvall that will make up almost a third of our matchday squad?
Possible hot prospect.. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/hearts-demand-hefty-transfer-fee-85696
