Their own team, you must mean Chelsea? Because they certainly are struggling and if I'm not mistaken they seem to have gotten the most "help" in the form of penalty decisions going in their favor over the past few seasons
But surely the FA would be more concerned with penalising Liverpool and Arsenal in that case? After all, it's not as if Chelsea are really competing with Man City. They're still struggling to deal with Spurs
I think the scousers are going to benefit the most from this suspension...unfortunately. If they cannot go to the CC final with City in trouble they are useless...
Is that the same spurs who will be level on points with you if they win Wednesday???!!? As for struggling, how did that C.L campaign go for United?? Tough group though....
city are allowed use a player instead of kompamy unlike the eighty odd minutes they had to play against united with ten men
Ridiculous decision from the FA, everyone can see that Kompany should not have been sent off. Really not impressed. He didn't touch Nani, he only touched the ball. And Nani didn't complain either, and he falls over if the wind blows. But I trust Savic to perform, from what we've seen from him so far he's been very good (apart from away to QPR) and against Bayern Munich he was brilliant. Makes the fact that the ACON is mid season even more annoying though, as if we weren't going to miss Yaya enough we could now really do with Kolo Toure.
I think this is potentially great news for United as Kompany is the rock of the Manchester City defense and will be intriguing to see how they will cope without him for a couple of games.
A tackle, where the player does not make any contact with his opponent and only touches the ball, should not be a foul. Something wrong with the game if it is.
You do realize that you don't have to make contact with a player for a challenge to be deemed dangerous or reckless? Kompany was stupid for making that kind of challenge in the first place when he could of quite easily taken the ball with a one footed challenge without showing studs at all, he was clearly favorite to win that ball, soft or not Kompany gave the ref a decision to make, and to be fair to the ref it looked worse from his angle.
But surely, without touching the opponent, it isn't dangerous? Where is the danger if he's only made contact with the football? If those are the rules then those are the rules, but I think it's ridiculous.
The danger is that he unnecessarily went 2 footed with studs showing while completely off the floor so he was not in full control, if Nani hadn't of pulled his leg away it could of been a lot worse, just because he didn't do damage doesn't mean it wasn't dangerous/reckless.
I saw Savic play against the LA Galaxy during the offseason and Savic was pretty poor. He got burned a few times a by a 16 year old Jack McBean who had never made a 1st team appearance. If it had been a real game Savic would have been sent off for a terrible tackle when Jack McBean was through on goal. That was obviously one game but City will suffer without Kompany. As far as the card goes, I think everyone agrees it was a clean tackle and shouldn't have been a red, but the laws of the game state all two footed tackles are dismissible offenses. Most likely to prevent serious injuries like broken legs.
