HT Our best opening 30mins of the season in terms of attacking intent and the quality of our football. We literally should have been 3-0 up. Bradford have pushed us back in the last 15 min and Phillips made an absolutely world class save to keep it at 0-0. The worry is that we lack an end product, but these same players are producing in a way that Slade could never coax from them. Robinson ran on the pitch at half time and ordered his players to run to the dressing room. Magennis outstanding so far but Ajose and Novak struggling.
Elfs if you are picking this up I will head to the beehive. You should have had this game won by half time. You will make the playoffs looking at how you played as a team today. More impressed than your comments indicated i would be. Just beat wall next week and your season is really up and running. Royston if you dont like my input ask ur mods to ban me or pipe down before i embarrass you.
Good draw. Could have won by the sounds of it, but they were right in it till the end too. In the end, a good point, and a good start for KR despite the depleted squad. If we move wisely in the january transfer market, we could yet do well this year.
The main significance of yesterday's performance IMO was the welcome change in the style of football from Slade to Robinson. The quick passing along the ground, the quick interchanges, and the absence of "Slade Football" long balls and slow, sideways passing. So well done Karl for that . What is still clearly lacking however, especially playing a 4-3-3, is the personnel. Crofts had his best game for us yesterday and Magennis is an absolute colossus - as Bradford's Stuart McCall remarked, every club in the division would like Josh in their side. Meire must be licking her lips as he could play at a higher level for a bigger club than us. A few others in our side are a consistent disappointment in any formation - Novak is simply too slow and immobile to be anything better than a sub. Botaka is Danny Green with dreadlocks - a completely inconsistent non entity who's footballing brain can't keep up with his feet. And Ajose will get the treatment from fans and new manager alike soon, because without tap ins he brings absolutely zero to this team. Other positive points yesterday were Dillon Phillips - excellent, & Teixera who is clearly a cut above strikers at this level. And Konsa did a good job at full back up against a tricky Bradford winger. Encouraging signs so far under Robinson, but we will be held back by our weak as p1ss squad.
We did not go back there, never mind, always next time. Bolton(Saturday permitting), Shrewsbury and Northampton games are the next aways. Unless you fancy a non-league hop!
Fingers crossed this is the start of a run in the side for Tex (still rate him as best defender & big threat set pieces)
Crazy to think we've wasted Tex for 3 months. The Slade lovers made up some crap about having to pay more money if he featured - but it was just one of the many clangers the hapless one made.
