Heard a rumour that he's being linked with pne, anyone on here heard anything? Tbh dont know much about him but he scored a good goal at deep dale this year.
I'm sure he'd do well in League One, a lot of people don't rate him on here but I think he's good enough backup. Been unlucky due to a lack of fitness (only played once for 90 minutes). In terms of his playing style, he's your average target man really; Deepdale was probably his best performance last season and that was against a League One-standard team so that's probably the level he'd be playing at for you. Good signing for you I'd say.
i would be sad to see him go..i think we owe him a full fit season..... and lets judge him then.. But sadly im one of few on here that think that... Think he will do a good job in L1 and get Preston some goals if he goes.
He'd be good in League One. He has an average goal scoring record, not including the one great season he had at Swindon. He's never going to be Championship standard, but he'd do a job for you. I'd want him to do well at Leeds, and he was unlucky with injuries and obviously going so long without scoring he lost confidence, but he's just not good enough.
OLM! I thought you only ever posted on the Hull and mod boards. Good to have your constructive input!
Here's an interview with FourFourTwo which discusses Paynter's playing style which the OP might be interested in: http://performance.fourfourtwo.com/health/psychology/inside-the-mind-of-a-striker-part-two Think it's from the same edition of FourFourTwo which had a feature on strikers, the cover of which was this: please log in to view this image Spot the odd one out.
"But strikers do want to score! If I have a terrible game, I dismiss it as a one-off – I’ll do better next time. If I miss a good chance, I think ‘forget it’ and get ready for the next one" - Really Billy? A one off? Grayson says he won't sell him anyway - http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....d_i_won_t_let_paynter_leave_grayson_1_3497182 Grayson said: “I’ve had no enquiries for Billy. “He had a stop-start season last year but I’m not looking to get rid of him because he’s a good player. When he did come into the team, he showed his quality.”
Paynter will be here until at least the Jaanuary window. If, as I think he will, he starts scoring regularly in a two man attack, I wouldn't bet against us extending his contract. If, however, he starts poorly, then he maybe moved on in January.
I wouldn't want to let him go personally. He does the target-man job well when Becchio's injured and seemed to strike up a good partnership with McCormack.
Maybe I was wrong, all is now well now that Grayson has vowed to hold onto paynter. Doubt if Chelsea or arsenal are beating the door down for him. Don't think too many fans will be too bothered whether we keep him or not. Strange how most managers say they like to do their transfer business early complaining promotion through playoffs leave you at a disadvantage as other clubs have had a head start with their transfers. We must be waiting for the January transfer window
