Karl Carver of Yorkshire conceded an unenviable 37 runs in one over today (six sixes and a wide)!. Fortunately, his team's batsmen had posted a massive 233 in 20 overs so they still won by 37 runs.
After watching women's cricket most of the day now it's the turn of women's football. Getting certain looks from my wife.
It's been great entertainment today - and the standard has definitely improved with professionalism. Men take it seriously whereas women just bitch about the size of Anya Shrubsole's muffin top.
Amazing decision by the ref in the England v Spain match. Gave a penalty then decided the handball was accidental and went for a dropped ball instead. The final decision looked right to me but I wonder why she changed her mind. Possibly she didn't see the ball being deflected off the player's thigh and one of the assistant told her.
But it wasn't a drop ball. That was the strangest thing. Was just handed to the keeper to carry as though the ball was live. Surely once the whistle is blown the ball is dead.
Some stattery about the PL walking wounded : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/07/23/revealed-true-cost-injuries-premier-league-clubs-man-city-paid http://www.physioroom.com/info/english-premier-league-injury-analysis-201617-season Some interesting stuff about both who did (not) suffer worst with injuries, and the level of club wage bills.
The cost per club is not very interesting. We could have our whole first 11 out for a month and it would probably be valued at less than Man City having 2 players miss 1 game. It does show how lucky/good Chelsea were with injuries last year.
Adam Peaty set a world record in the 50m breaststroke heats this morning at the World Aquatics Championships, then broke his own world record in the semi-finals this afternoon! Remarkable. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/swimming/40714957
A bit, but won't be a deal breaker. This Order came in originally in Feb/March last season, but had little effect. Having Court Orders and legislation is one thing - enforcing it effectively is another!
Only time will tell, but making the ISPs responsible for ensuring that they don't host illegal streams must have some effect.
Absolutely agree, but there are still numerous technical workarounds to keep the streamers in business a while longer. Not that I am advocating the pirating of digital media - no, not me, Your Worships!!
Side splittingly funny The currently block on torrents sites - I overcame that with a button on my browser They blocked FirstRow last year. Didn't stop anyone for more than 5 minutes. Peer-to-Peer - Does no one understand that they aren't 'hosted' anywhere? Censored UK. It's like China.
Simple solution: let me pay to watch all 38 Spurs games, no buffering, HD, option to turn off commentary, low price (look at Netflix and price accordingly)
That was your 'friend' wasn't it, Inda???? (You know these streams are monitored by the Sky Thought Police, don't you?? )
Yes please, turn off commentary, what a fantastic idea. Give and option to turn on just crowd noise. It won't happen because the money Sky throw at the Premier League but it's a fans Utopia.
Some broadcasters do it for other sports (NBA, NFL). The BBC experimented with it. I've seen downloads with "stadium audio only" As we know, we're not Sky's or the FA's customer. The advertisers are their customers and we're the product
Selective commentary feed is a big potential USP for content providers. I know people who have watched football/boxing matches with TV on mute, and a radio programme for audio commentary.
Sky Germany has the option, and I'm sure I remember about fifteen years ago Sky had the option over here - although no doubt stopped the service because the audio was replaced with audio from the phones their Murdoch overlord was hacking...
