Certainly it could be a factor. What is clear is the failure of the Football Association to protect it's players from the TV companies who are only interested in providing wall to wall football for their customers. 2 days between games is clearly not enough time for top athletes to be able to perform to their best. There is no reason why refs should not also feel the strain.

2 days between games in the Premier League seems unnecessary.
Some clubs aren't getting close to that and I think it's easily avoidable with a little planning.

I have little sympathy with clubs like Arsenal, City and Liverpool moaning, though.
They've all got massive resources and an absolute ton of players.
They can prepare for this. Individual officials can't.

I love the reaction of Martin Jol to Clattenberg and his assistant Rob Lewes in the refree's room after the game.He went in and said "I'd like to tell you that you're a **** for not giving that goal."

Clattenberg gets on his high horse and says "Mr Jol, you're not allowed to say that to a referee in this country."

Martin goes straight back with "Can I think that you're a ****?".

Clattenberg tells the great man that he can think what he likes. At which point, Martin Jol tells Clattenberg - "I'd like to tell you that I think that you're a ****."

    I love that man.

Yes on the basis that they have 2 teams available to play but on the other hand, in reality, most still have a first eleven that paying fans want to see when they pay inflated fees to watch. There should perhaps be a minimum time between games if we want to maintain an even playing field.

I think that fans accept rotation now, but I also think that they'd rather watch players that are fully fit.
Seeing a knackered group of top players strolling about and getting battered or watching a few less well known names win?

Why would anyone ever send such a nasty message. Not even any humour in it.

A non-league player has been sacked by his club after abusing Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter over the death of his baby daughter on Twitter.
Bournemouth lost a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Arsenal in the Premier League on Tuesday.
Hitchin Town player Alfie Barker, 19, posted: "Big hype just for a disappointment like the nine months leading up to your child's birth."
Barker issued an apology on Wednesday for his "disgraceful comments".

    Absolute twat.
He's scored 20 goals in 17 games this season as a midfielder and was being lined up for a transfer.
Now he's killed his own career off before it's started with a couple of poisonous tweets. Well done. <applause>

His now-former loan club made the right move. Doubt they've had this much interest for a while, though:

I think you maybe right, but I also think he has been very patient with Justin, who I think forced the chairmans hand when he stated on Monday that we were still punching above our weight when we have a reasonable budget for a league 1 team and we have been on the slide for 12 months under his management

Or a maximum number of games a player can play in a row

I'd love to see Spurs play twice a week, every week

I don't get why they have to have the draw for the next round of the cup before the last match has been played. Sure if there is a postponement due to weather or floodlight failure or something, but if the game hasn't even been played yet... it's just wrong. A team shouldn't know who they have in the next round before they even kick off. There's probably not that much chance of abusing this - by perhaps changing the team you were going to field, but nevertheless that option shouldn't even be available, it's the principle of the thing.

I agree with you but remember the 1978-79 season. It was a bitter winter with games postponed all over the country for frozen pitches and snow falling for weeks, normally just before match days. I think it got to the point where in the 5th or 6th round, one potential tie looked like this:

    Team 1 or Team 2 v Team 3 or Team 4 v Team 5 or Team 6 v Team 7

In Scotland, he second round tie between Inverness Thistle and Falkirk was originally scheduled for 8 January 1979, but was postponed twenty-nine times due to the weather. The game was finally played on 22 February.

It's a quiet Spurs week, so thought this might be appreciated <hug>

Some fantastic goals and great reminders about just what brilliant players we've had over the years. The likes of Falco, Hazard and even Chris Waddle at times get forgotten about. COYS!!!

Great to see Frank Saul again.Always liked him.Never a star but always did his best.
Good goal v Chelsea in the final but an even better one in the semi final v Forest........and I think he made his league debut as a 17 year old v Arsenal.

Looking at our fixtures, we don't seem to have a PL match between the two legs of our EL ties v Gent. There is presumably an obvious reason for this I'm not aware of (other than the BBC missing it out of the list), so could someone enlighten me?
